Even amongst the tapping of pens against their desks, or the quiet snores scattered across the room; the sound of chalk running against the blackboard dominated the classroom.
It was a day like any other school day. It was the last week of August, and summer vacation still seemed millennias away.
Yet, a knock on the door was enough snap everyone back to the same reality. Hushed murmurs and whispers spread throughout the room.
"Sit up straight, Cam! That might be principal Earth!"
"Oh man, did he somehow know that I was sleeping for half of this class? If so, how?!"
"Thailand... What did you do this time?"
"Whatever happened, I bet the MaPhilIndo was behind it."
"How dare you make such accusations?" Malaysia said, crossing his arms.
"I agree. What ever happened to 'innocent until proven guilty' or 'due process'?" Indonesia asked.
Suddenly, they heard the door knob twist, and Mr. SEA opened the door; revealing two petite, chocolate-skinned girls.
While most of the class breathed a sigh of relief that it wasn't principal Earth, Indonesia just sat there, wide eyed.
"Ah ****, you weren't kidding, Mr. SEA..."
Mr. SEA turned back to Indonesia. "Mr. Indonesia, language." He then turned back to the two girls. "My sincerest apologies, Miss Timor Leste and Miss Papua New Guinea." He stepped aside and pointed towards the two empty seats behind Indonesia. "There are two free seats behind your brother. You may both take those seats."
"Brother...?"
With a nod, the two girls walked towards the empty seats behind their brother; while ignoring the hushed whispers and murmurs about them.
Once they took their seats, Mr. SEA walked back to the front of the class and spoke up.
"SEAs, as you all may have noticed, we have two young women come in our class. They came from Ms. Oceania's class and will be your new classmates." He then gestured to the two girls. "If you two will kindly introduce yourself to the class..."
Slowly, the girl right behind Indonesia stood up and introduce herself in an almost quiet and timid voice.
"Err, s-salam. My name is Timor Leste. But you may simply call me Timor. I'm the youngest child and daughter of the royal Majapahit and his lady Zamrud." Timor Leste shared and sat back down; cuing the girl behind her to stand up and introduce herself.
"Salam! I'm Papua New Guinea, but because I agree that that's a handful to say, just call me PNG. Being Timor's older sister and kakak Indo's young sister, I'm the eldest daughter and middle child of the royal Majapahit and his lady Zamrud." Papua New Guinea shared and sat back down.
Indonesia kept his head down the whole time.
Mr. SEA clappped his hands and smiled. "Alright. Now that we got that out of the way, let's move on. Before class ends, let's talk about the upcoming school-hosted event, 'Parent-Child Bonding Day'."
