(This story will have very dark themes in later chapters and even in this one so fair warning. Also this definitely has male x male. I do not own PJO or any of its characters. Enjoy!)

It was a decently warm evening in Austin, Texas. Will was doing the dishes. See his mother tended to be way too drunk off her ass to do much of anything on her own. Given that he was a responsible boy he often took over. Some might dare say the house only looked even half as good as it did because of him. And whenever he left, it fell apart. Regretfully.

The blonde male’s brows were actually a bit furrowed as he scrubbed away at the tons of dirty dishes before him. Snores came from the living room. His mother, Naomi Solace was passed out on the couch.

Her favorite place nowadays. This really stressed a doctor (not really) like him because he knew all too well from his studies how binge drinking can destroy and even kill a person. Especially a mortal woman who was at least in her mid thirties to forties by now.

There was that and how she had gone from an accomplished country singer to passed out drunk and barely making it.

On that note he changed his train of thought. He didn’t want to get depressed again. That wasn’t the way of an Apollo child right? They were supposed to basically radiate happiness and such.

After a while he finally finished the dishes. He was going to head to bed when a thought came to mind. He went over to his sleeping mother’s form and gently shook her.

“Mom. Mom wake up. You need to eat. I know you haven’t today.”

Even at home he was a bit of a health nazi. Though normally he didn’t tell his mother what to do but this was very important. After he shook her once more she talked/mumbled “m’ not hungry. Ugh...I feel sick.”

This really really bothered Will. More than usual. “Don’t ya think that’s because you drink so much?”

He heard an annoyed groan come from her. “Don’t get smart with me Will.”

He narrowed his eyes but knew he wasn’t accomplishing anything. “Gods, fine. Since your so OK I figure you don’t need me.” As he said this he made his way out of the house. He didn’t look back. He was going to just head to camp where he was needed and appreciated.

Luckily his journey back to camp didn't take too long. He'd had money enough to get there without walking. Gods knew how rough that could have been. Of course being at camp during the Fall/Winter/Spring time instead of being at school was very unlike him.

He expected all sorts of questions. Especially from Nico whom knew all too well. In some ways the son of Apollo felt bad for not telling Nico about his home life.

The fact was that his boyfriend had enough on his plate right now. 'Maybe someday' he thought as he got out at his final stop. Then he walked right into the familiar camp. A place he called almost a second home like many others.

It was no secret that Will had alot of responsibilities here. He was head councilor of the Apollo cabin and he was head healer at the infirmary.

But of course during this time of the year camp was nearly always deserted. As such he really had nothing to fret about.

First stop on his list? The Hades Cabin. Generally Nico stayed year round because all of his mortal family was dead and his father was a god. Therefore he knew he would be there. Once he reached the familiar darkly colored cabin with the green lit torches outside, he carefully knocked.

Rustling came from inside and moments later the door was unlocked and opened.

"What is-" A very surprised look crossed the son of Hades face. "Will...why are you here? Weren't you back in Texas?"

Already he could tell Nico was concerned. He sighed.

"That's not important. Um...can I come in? I just want to talk to you for a bit before I take care of some other stuff."

This honestly irritated Nico. It wasn't supposed to be like that. Will was the honest person. The one who told him everything.

Well or so he thought. Still being that Will was almost as stubborn as himself. As such continuing to ask was a waste of time.

He wordlessly stepped aside while Will walked inside. After that he closed the door and made his way over to his little couch. He sat down then patted the spot beside him. Obviously he didn't want to refuse. He took a seat beside him. Then he felt Nico lean against his arm.

"I missed you but you need your schooling don't you?"

There was silence before he nodded. "Yes but the situations changed for now. Don't worry. I'm going back next winter."

He was trying to say things without giving away too much. Still he sensed that it was something serious so Nico was still suspicious of him.

"Hm. Ok." A very simple response.

Basically indicating that he knew there was more but knew he likely wouldn't tell. This was slightly off putting to Will but he was honestly too exhausted to dwell on it. He yawned. Seemed that other stuff might have to wait.

“Can I...sleep here tonight?”

This was almost a silly question in Nico’s opinion. “Duh of course.” This made him smile.

“Ok lets lay down?”

Naturally Nico Agreed and they laid down on the bed, Will almost immediately falling asleep.

(The next chapter is when things will really start heating up)
