Chapter Three: Well if it isn't Archy
*1993 April 24th 8:53pm ~ Past*
The streets were dimmed of lighting. It was sure to be dangerous, yet Sienna continued on further down. Every now and then the only two working street lights flickered, almost losing its energy to stay on.
Faintly, there were cheers established in the distance and the sound of people screaming in pain echoed on. Almost as if there were a fight happening. The air smelt horrible as the stench of alcohol mixed its aroma with cigarettes and drugs.
There were loads of rubbish spread out along the streets allowing rats to freely roam around. A few homeless people lingered about, but they never paid attention to the nine year old girl walking alone.
She had just run away from a torturous family she was placed in since she got kicked out. They beat her constantly every now and then as if she were a punching bag. They were worse than her mother. The horrid family had once even tried to make her consume alcohol and drugs, which was the line they'd crossed. Now here she was looking for food, shelter and...more food.
As Sienna got closer towards the sound of a cheering crowd, she could also hear grunts of pain and the sound of a fight going on. The sounds that she had begun to hear earlier. Then she saw the scene in front of her.
It was a street fighting match.
There were young adults, a few teenagers and some elder people. Sienna moved closer towards the centre where the fight was taking place. Two guys were fighting each other. Well...one of them was trying to stay conscious as the other had a cocky smirk on his face.
Sienna watched as the cocky guy kicked the other in the stomach and right hooked him in the face causing the guy to be knocked out cold. Louder cheers errupted as another man walked up to the victorious guy and gave him what seemed to be a bag of money.
Next to her, there stood a boy around her age who was holding the hand of a teenager. She didn't notice him, but the boy definately noticed her. He seemed to be intrigued with the little girl next to him more than his big brothers fight.
The boy tapped Sienna on the shoulder breaking her from her trance as she turned to stare at him. He seemed to take in her state and stared at the girl curiously.
"Are you okay?" The boy asked.
In reply he received a curt nod which only made him more curious. This was the first time he has seen another kid around her that was his age. and a girl at that.
"That's my brother who just won." The boy continued to talk as if they were friends since the say they were born. "He fights to get money for our house. My mum and dad don't live together anymore." He said so casually.
Sienna was still in shock that the boy was conversing with her so nicely. Nowadays, people would usually just abuse her mentally, verbally and physically.
"Do you want to be friends?" The boy suddenly asked catching her of guard. She stared wide eyed at the boy as he gave her a big ear to ear grin. After a few moments of letting the question sink in, Sienna nodded her head with a shy smile.
The boy jumped up and down in happiness as he smiled at her.
"My name is Archer, but you can call me Archy." He practically yelled. "What's your name?"
Sienna hesitated before giving him her name...well part of her name.
"E-Ennie."
