"What are you doing here?" Baekhyun asked her as she followed him outside the bar to... smoke?
When Taeyeon saw the cigarette on his fingers, she immediately flicked it off of his grip.
"When did you start doing that?"
"I won't light it, Taeyeon." He casually said and grabbed another stick from the cigarette box in his pocket.
Taeyeon didn't bother fighting anymore. In fact, she's here to fix everything.
She leaned on the wall just like Baekhyun. They stared at the night sky full of stars. They are beside each other once again. It's a surprise Baekhyun is not acting shitty. So, Taeyeon thought this is her chance.
"Baekhyun..."
"What?"
"I want us to be friends again."
Baekhyun lazily looked at the girl beside him.
What game does she want to play now?
He thought.
"Let's start all over again." She said as if it is as easy as pie.
Baekhyun scoffed.
"You know, you are still funny."
With that remark, Taeyeon knew she failed again. Baekhyun didn't like the idea.
"We can't be friends, Taeyeon. Unless you want us to hurt all over again."
She clenched her jaw as his words pierced her heart again.
"I thought you did not want the break-up?" She faced Baekhyun. Now with her bloodshot eyes. "Now that I am taking back my decision, you act like you are all okay?!"
Baekhyun did not react for a while. His face was blank just like how someone does not really care anymore.
He let out a sigh as if he's tired of talking about it, "It's been a year now. Haven't you realized? You were okay for a year too. We were okay. And we still are." He casually said, his eyes not leaving the stars above, his tongue playing the cigarette he is biting.
"Are we? Then what's with your shitty attitude last week, huh? What was it?! You were clearly making me regret leaving you! Oh! Maybe you are now alright because you seem to enjoy Ji Eun's company? Right? That's right!" Taeyeon couldn't stop herself.
A weak smile became visible on his lips as he turned to Taeyeon, "My actions last week... if that's what you're worried about, then sorry. I guess I'm having mood swings? But now, I am totally alright. I hope you are too." He tapped her shoulders... "Another thing... I can be happy with or without a woman, Taeyeon. I thought you knew me." He looked down with confusing eyes before passing by her, getting back inside the bar.
Taeyeon scoffed in amusement, "What did he just say?"
She wanted to hate him again. Definitely. But his smile a while ago? It was hard to let go. It was confusing. He was acting normal all the time they were talking but he failed to show her that right before their talk ended. Now, Taeyeon's left with a big question mark.
After a long drive home, it was traffic, Taeyeon couldn't help but think if she offended Baekhyun in any way for him to smile like that and end their conversation with a very disturbing line.
