Part 4: Roomies

Peridot Pov:

Concentrating on the rest of my classes for the day was difficult as all I could do was feel anxious about what was going to happen when I arrived back home. I found myself continuously looking up at the clock as time slowly crept towards the inevitable confrontation when I arrive home. Eventually the bell rang and I slowly got up, heading to the front door, walking outside I took a brief second to look around and see if I could spot Lapis in hopes of getting one more chance to talk with her. Damn, looks like she's not here, guess i'll just have to wait until I get home.

By the time I got home I noticed a moving van out front with Mr. Universe taking some boxes out of the back, he noticed me as I got closer to the house,

"Oh hey Peridot, getting home from school I see, did you happen to see Lapis on your way here?" I shake my head as I walk up to the moving van next to him,

"No... I didn't see her Mr. Universe, she must've left after me" he shrugs as he places a box down in front of him,

"oh well, i'm sure she'll be here soon, and hey, d'you mind taking this box in for me?" I sigh lightly as I reach down and hoist the box up, starting to make my way inside,

"Thanks Peridot" he calls out warmly from behind me. I carry the box inside and place it down in the hall, I go up to my room and place my bag on my bed before heading back down and into the living room where everyone is waiting,

"Sup p-dot" I sigh and roll my eyes slightly. "Good afternoon, Amethyst,"I replied as i went to sit down with everyone else,

"Soo, excited to meet your new roommate?" I shrug and look down at my hands,

"I dunno... I guess a little" my reply causes Amethyst to grin widely,

"Ohhh somebody's nervous" I shrug softly as I keep looking down at my hands, still feeling nervous about what will happen when Lapis arrives.

Everyone in the room continues to make small talk for a short while until we hear Mr. Universe hurry in,

"She's here! everyone just act normal" he runs out and I can faintly hear him talking, the whole time my heart is pounding lightly in my chest, oh stars she's here. After a brief second Mr. Universe walks in followed by Lapis, as they do my heart starts to pound slightly faster, everyone stood up and went over to greet her, smiling as they introduced themselves to her. Though all I could do was remain in my seat and stare at her, with her soft blue hair and stunning eyes, stars her eyes they're so beautiful. Once everyone's done introducing themselves Mr. Universe turns to face me,

"Oh Peridot, aren't you gonna introduce yourself?" I blush and stammer a little before Lapis speaks up before I have a chance "Oh it's okay Mr. Universe, she introduced herself to me at school today, right Peridot?" I nod nervously, my heart still pounding in my chest,

"U-uh yeah, t-that's right" Mr. Universe stares at me for a second before shrugging,

"Well then, how about you help Lapis move her stuff into your room" I nod as I get up and go out into the hall with Lapis, picking up the boxes lying there and taking them upstairs in silence.

Once all the boxes are moved up into my room I nervously turn to face Lapis,

"S-so um, want me to help you set up your stuff?" she turns to face me, the same disinterested look in her eyes that she had back at the school,

"Look Peridot, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't bother me and just leave me alone while i'm here, can you do that?" I nod slowly as I look down at the floor,

"yes... I can do that" she moves and starts taking things out of one of the boxes, facing away from me,

"Good, now if you don't mind I'm going to unpack, by myself" I slowly walk over to my bed, sitting on the edge as I quietly watch her unpack and begin to set up her things around her side of the room. She pulled out several pieces of artwork, many depicting the ocean or other marine themed subjects, she hung them all up on the wall around her bed, she also pulled out several trinkets relating to the sea, such as small shells and postcards.

While she was unpacking I couldn't help but watch as her blue hair bobbed about softly as she moved, being able to catch a few glimpses of her beautiful eyes as she moved back and forth from boxes. I sat in silence the whole time she was unpacking, just sitting and watching her go about arranging her things into places she liked. After she had finished setting up the boxes she took a brief look at everything to make sure they were in the right place before she grabbed some clothes out of her drawer and turned to face me,

"I'm going to go take a bath, don't bother me or touch my stuff, OK?" I nod slowly and she turns and walks out of the room, closing the door behind her. I get up and go over to the boxes on the floor, picking up the empty ones and taking them downstairs, folding them up and placing them in the recycling bin before heading back up to my room.
