Part 14: Making Plans

Lapis Pov:

My eyes slowly open on the dark ceiling, I roll over and pick up my phone, damn, it's 4:30, I place my phone down and sit up, I look over at Peridot, she's snoring lightly, so i'm going to guess she's asleep. I slip out of my bed and head for the door, quietly opening and closing it behind me, I carefully make my way downstairs, so as to not make any noise, and go to the kitchen pouring myself a glass of water, I sit myself down at the table and sip at my glass of water.

Staring down at the now empty class I can't help but think about what I said today, or I guess yesterday now, why did I open up to her like that? maybe I'm just feeling a little stressed and needed to vent... or could it be something more? I shrug as I stand up, grabbing the glass, placing it in the sink, heading back upstairs and into my bed where I try to get back to sleep.

The next morning I wake up feeling slightly tired, I go through my morning routine and go down the stairs, eating my breakfast before I head out, just as I'm about to open the front door and leave I hear a call from behind me,

"Yo Lapis, you got a sec?" I turn to see Amethyst coming down the hallway towards me,

"Uh, sure, just make it quick" she smirks slightly as she stops in front of me "Well, I've got something i gotta talk to you about, so can I catch you during lunch?" I shrug as I turn slightly to the door,

"Sure, I guess" she grins at my response, raising her hand and turning to go back down the hall,

"Alright, see you then" I nod as I push the door open, closing it behind me.

My morning classes go by as usual and when lunch comes around I head out of my class to go and find Amethyst, if I remember correctly she usually hangs out in the gym storage closet with her friends, I'll still never get why she calls them 'the famethyst'. I head down the corridors until I reach the gym hall, I go in and walk over to the storage closet where I can hear some voices inside. I push the door open to see Amethyst and her friends sitting on some of the gym equipment. As I open the door Amethyst notices me and grins widely,

"Heey, Lapis, you're here" . I walk into the closet and stand in front of the group,

"Uh, yeah, anyway, what was it you wanted to talk to me about?" Amethyst nods slightly as she hops down off of a piece of equipment,

"Oh, right yeah, well, I don't know if they told you yet, but Greg and Rose are gonna be outta town this weekend, they'll be leaving Friday afternoon" I look at her a little confused,

"Okay... is that what you wanted to talk to me about?" she snickers a little as she leans over onto a separate piece of equipment,

"What? no, of course not, now here comes the good part, since they'll be away, I was thinking we throw a party this Friday night, I already got Pearl and Garnet to agree to it, so now all I need is you" I stare at her a second before raising my eyebrow a bit,

"Wait, just me? what about Steven and Peridot?" she nods a little,

"Well, Steven's gonna be staying at Connie's house this friday, and there's no way Peridot would agree to this, she's way too uptight and nerdy... buuut, since you two seem to be getting kinda chummy lately, you're free to try and convince her to come, so waddya say, wanna join us?"

I think for a second before letting out a slight sigh,

"Fine, I'll come to your party... and I guess I'll try and convince Peridot too" Amethyst grins widely as she high fives the girl next to her,

"Yees! you won't regret it... and good luck convincing Peridot, you're certainly gonna need it" I nod slightly and turn to leave, the sound of Amethyst and her friends laughter echoing in the gym hall slightly as I walk away.

Walking out into the cafeteria I spot Peridot sitting by herself at the table in the corner of the room,so I decide to go over to her, I walk over and sit in the seat opposite from her, she looks up at me,

"O-oh, hey Lapis" I nod in response as I sling my bag on the chair next to me, pulling out my food. While we eat I look up at Peridot,

"Hey, Peridot... out of curiosity, how do you feel about parties?" she looks up at me a little confused,

"Parties? well, umm... I guess i don't really see the point, just messing about and acting stupid" I think for a second before responding,

"Well, what about the good times you can have with your friends?" she goes silent for a second before she speaks up,

"Well... I suppose that could be good... umm, why are you asking anyways?" I quickly come up with an excuse,

"Oh, umm, just curious" she looks at me a little strangely before going back to her food,

"Okay then..."
