Peridot Pov:
Walking into the store I looked around at all the strange and unique items on the shelves around me. I started walking about the store, looking at everything on the shelves to find a gift that would be good to give to Lapis. Moving to the back of the store I take a brief look at the items on the shelf before something catches my eye.
A picture frame with a small blue rock in the shape of a drop of water, surrounded by a few small shells inside of it. I picked it up off of the shelf and looked it over for a brief second, hmm, this looks nice, and Lapis does certainly seem to like the ocean, so maybe she'll like this too. I nod to myself before walking to the front of the store and paying for it, I slip the frame into my bag and make my way to the arts and crafts store.
Pushing the door of the arts and crafts store open I take a brief moment to look around at all the brightly coloured papers and stationary on all the shelves and displays. After a brief walk around the store I'm approached by one of the staff members,
"Hi there, is there anything I can help you with Miss?" she asks in a slightly high pitched voice,
"Uhh, yeah, I'm looking for something to put a gift in" she smiles at me as she clasps her hands behind her back ,
"Ohh, well what kind of gift do you have in mind?" I slip off my bag from my shoulder and pull out the frame, showing it to her,
"Well, this is the gift here" she takes a brief look at the frame before looking back at me,
"Right then, did you want it wrapped or do you want a box for it?" I think for a second before responding,
"Uhh, which is cheaper?" her hands move down from behind her back to her sides,
"That would be Wrapping" I nod slightly as I look the frame over in my hands,
"Well, I'll get that please" she smiles and nods, turning to go to one of the two counters in the store,
"Alright then, just follow me and we can get this wrapped and paid for".
After I pay at the counter I slip the now wrapped gift into my bag, heading out of the store and back onto the street. While walking down the street I spot the big Donut, so I decide to head in and grab myself a coffee. I gently sip on my coffee every so often during my journey home, I decide to put my ear-buds in and listen to some relaxing music as I walk.
The last of my coffee trickles into my mouth as I walk up to the front door and lower the cup from my mouth, I slide my keys into the door and walk in, closing the door behind me, I briefly walk into the kitchen and chuck the empty cup into the bin. I hop my way up the stairs and into my room, it looks like Lapis isn't back yet, I wonder where she goes after school? I shrug my shoulders and sling my bag onto my bed, sitting myself down in my chair and wheeling it over to my desk where I turn on my computer, plugging in my headphones as I put on a podcast while I wait for Lapis to get home.
A while passes as I lean back in my chair, the voices coming from my headphones not really registering as I think about giving Lapis her gift when she gets home. Just as I'm going over it in my head I notice the door slide open out of the corner of my eye, Lapis walking in and shutting it behind her, taking a brief glance at me before walking over to her bed. I sit up and turn off the podcast, slipping my headphones off and placing them on my desk, I stand up out of my chair and walk over to my bed, opening my bag and slipping the gift out, hiding it behind my back as I turn to face Lapis,
"Umm, hey, Lapis?" she turns to face me as she slings her bag off down onto her bed,
"Uhh, yeah?" I nervously rub at the wrapping paper a little with my finger as I stand in front of her,
"Well, I know you said that we should just ignore each other, and that you accepted my apology, b-but, I thought I'd do something a little extra, s-so I got you this" I slowly reveal the gift from behind my back, my arm outstretched slightly. Lapis looks down at the gift then back up at me,
"Peridot, you didn't have to get me a gift, just like you said, I accepted your apology, that's all I need, no gifts, no sympathies, nothing" I look down at the gift for a second then back to her,
"I-I know... I just thought... it might make you feel better about me" she looks at me for a second before sighing quietly, reaching up and softly taking the gift from my hand "Fine, Peridot, I accept your gift".
I smile a little as I watch her take the gift, I wait in anticipation for her to open it so I can see her reaction to it. She slowly peels off the wrapping paper, flipping the frame over so she can see what's inside, upon seeing it her eyes widen ever so slightly in surprise, she looks up at me,
"Peridot, what is this?" the nervous smile still on my face I respond,
"W-well, you seemed to like the ocean and all, s-so I thought you might like it" she looks back down at the frame for a second before standing up, walking over to her dresser and placing the frame down on it,
"Well, uh, It's nice and all... so, uh, thanks Peridot" my smile widens slightly as I watch her sit back down on her bed,
"Oh, um you're welcome Lapis" I go and sit back down in my chair, my head whizzing with excitement.
