Emma's POV
The walk through my forest felt like seconds because all my thoughts were centered around Chris. He is just so effortlessly charming and kind. He almost made me forget about what I have to face today, Steve with a god complex, Adam being significantly more of a dick to me and Jace, someone I thought I could trust, looking at me so coldly.
I still can't believe I couldnt tell he was playing me. He is the best actor I've ever met, his body language, subconscious and conscious wise, were completely text book for someone who was experiencing love. He was even able to make his pupils slightly dilate. He must have just thought of someone else while looking at me.
Honestly, I could spend my day upset that I let Jace in or spend my day happy about having Chris back.
My phone chimed as I turned the corner and became one step closer to doom.
Mom: Hey hunny, sorry about not coming in last night! I fell asleep at my desk! Can you believe that! Well anyway, I hope it wasn't that much of a shock when you saw Chris on our couch! I figured you would be alright with it! Hope you have a great day sugar plum!
I didnt even think to wonder about where mom was this morning, wow Chris being back has greatly impacted my ability to be observant.
I'm pretty sure it was the fact that Chris actively wants you in every way shape and form that has got you less observant than usual. Not just the him being back part.
Okay, maybe that has something to do with it too.
I can hear the mindless chatter of my classmates and with each step my heart beat quickens. For some reason people are staring at me, they do that usually, but today it's more intense. I duck into the protective world of the book I'm reading and wait for the first bell.
After a while, the bell rings and we all go inside, and people have still continued to stare at me. I haven't seen the asshole trio just yet but something in my stomach says that won't last for long.
Salvation arrives in the form of Jess coming up to me with kind eyes. She's always been the sweetest. Though today her eyes look different, almost worried.
"Hey hun, I dont think you know." She starts off and my heart rate spikes. What did those dickheads do to me this time. They couldn't have possibly put the photos from the party anywhere, what else could they have on me? I look around the lockers to see if anything is posted up but so far I see nothing.
"What happened, what did they do to me now?" I ask worried about her answer, the way her eyes shifted made me more worried. She took my hand and we marched over to the bathroom.
As we got to the door she turned and said, "No. It's nothing like that, it's just that, well, um, you know your neck. It's pretty obvious that either you got attacked by a vampire or you were recently with a boy, I'm really praying for the last one cuz I dont want any undead friends you know." She smiled sweetly trying to make light of the fact that I had been walking around with a hickie on my neck for the past 30 minutes.
