Getting ready for the party is easily the most stressful thing I have ever had to do. I have never been in my casual clothes in front of anyone from school except for Jace. What should I wear? I guess it doesn't really matter, I'm going to be made fun of no matter what.
"Okay Emma I'm going to work now, try not to stress! If you want my opinion, you will look really good in that one piece I bought you, you know the one you never wore this summer." Mom said as she closed the door behind her. I have an hour to get ready after an entire morning of procrastinating. What an idiot, I wish I could just know everything that may happen today so I can prepare mentally.
The hour flies by and suddenly it is 3:45. I look at myself in the mirror and feel a bit of confidence. I curled my hair and put on a little make up. I chose to wear a romper that mom bought me last week. It's green color brings out the deep red color of my hair. I packed the swimsuit my mom said I should wear. I really should try it on just incase it doesn't fit but I dont have any time for that.
I throw my towel in the bag with my bathing suit and make my way to my car. Maybe this won't go so bad. It's a party after all, it should be fun.
It's party time.
A quick ten minute drive and I am at the Luck's Family Estate. That's what the rich kids call their houses. Well, mansions. This already sucks. I can see Steve's, Adam's and one random car parked outside the house which means it won't just be Mrs. L and I decorating.
Perfect
Sarcasm, nice. I knock on the door and Mrs. L immediately comes and gives me a hug pulling me inside. Following her to the living room, I notice something that can only mean trouble, she is a little too dressed up for a birthday party. It almost looks like she is going to a business meeting or something. As I walk in Steve is the first to notice me and he gives me a knowing smile completely getting off on my awaiting embarrassment. What ever he has planned I know it's going to fucking suck. There is no way I am getting out of this.
"Emma Jane, sweetheart, I am so happy you are here. Your 18th birthday is coming up I cant believe how much you have grown over the summer. Look at you!" Mrs. L pulls me in for another hug and also alerts everyone of my presence. She really does mean well, she has no idea how terrible they are to me. She is such a sweet lady, I have no idea how she raised such a terrible person.
Steve and Adam are here and so are Ash, Lily and Jessica. The most popular girls in school and the most ruthless. Ash is the head of the cheerleading squad and can honestly kill a man with her death glare. She is known for her cruelty to basically everyone. She thinks she is the most beautiful girl in school and she is probably right. Her chocolate colored skin and gorgeous deep brown eyes have landed her a spot in every guys heart. It also helps that she can do amazing stunts and is incredibly flexible.
Lily is the head of our schools gymnastics team. She knows that she has the richest parents of the school and never fails to let other people know about that too. Her parents expect her to compete in the next Olympics and there is no doubt that she will. She has already one three national titles.
Jess is the only one that may have some compassion. She is the captain of the dance team at our school but she is not nearly as awful as the other girls. Her parents are the second richest in school and she is the second prettiest. She is okay with that. She can be awful when she is with them, but much like Adam she has a soul. At least a piece of one.
"Everyone say hi! This is Emma Jane! She's going to be helping you all set up!" Mrs. L was so happy I felt compelled to smile.
