[xxxvi] SLEEP.

     after a whole day of traveling and eating junk foods every pit stop, you and the others reached the hotel after eating your dinner at a restaurant not too far from the place you were staying at. it was ten in the evening and the moon was up and bright in the night sky. everyone was ready to rest and get a proper goodnight sleep after sitting in a cramped space the whole day.

     two rooms were rented for their three days stay. each room had three big beds, thus two people would be able to settle in. considering there were twelve people in your team, the beds were enough for everyone. moblit, armin, connie, samuel, daz and another scientist stayed in the other while you, sasha, nifa, annie, another scientist that you're not close to, and hange stayed in the other. hange was supposed to be in the other room but the men were too shy to volunteer to sleep in your room, thus hange invited herself in.

     originally, you were supposed to share a bed with sasha. hange would be sleeping beside nifa while annie and another scientist would share the other bed.

     however, sasha and nifa just had to change it all up. these motherfuckers forced you to share a bed with hange and changed the whole formation to their liking. you would be okay with it... if only they weren't aware of the growing and close relationship you had with the scientist, that is, and wanted something to happen. it was already going to be embarrassing that sasha knew how you hug pillows or people whenever you're asleep. you couldn't stop yourself, you're a cuddly person!

     so, imagine how that would turn out if you sleep with hange during your stay. it wasn't that you don't want to sleep next to their (when it was clear that you do)... it's just... it will not be good for your heart if you find yourself entangled with their body. you barely get by with their pet names, how could you possibly live if you caught yourself cuddling with them?

     "sasha..." you cried out quietly as you sat on your bed at the far end of the room. the others were currently outside, admiring the view before they sleep. "why must you do this?" you asked your friend across you, who was currently munching on a chocolate bar.

     it surprised you how she still had empty space in her stomach for that snack when she ate a lot during dinner. then again, this was sasha...

     "please, y/n. you and i know that you'll enjoy it soon enough." sasha chirped out, crumbs decorating her cheeks causing you to chuckle. "and seriously, you being worried just means that you're gaining feelings for our boss. that means, my ship is happening!" she cheered and before you could defend yourself, you heard voices coming out of the room.

     the door opened and the two of you zipped your lips upon hearing the others enter the room with a chatter.

     "well, time to sleep everyone!"

     you froze on your bed upon hearing hange's voice and watched as sasha stood up, throwing you a wink while you mouth 'save me'. you heard sheets getting tousled and beds creaking as everyone lay on the comfort of their mattresses. you heard footsteps approaching the bed you were on at the far side of the room, causing your heartbeat to quicken.

     you can do this, y/n. it's just an innocent sleep, nothing's going to happen! you told yourself as you ignored the bed dipping, just think of it like you're sleeping beside sasha and not the person who knows how to make your knees weak.

     the room was now dark and quiet save for the soft sound of breathing and the whirring of the air condition. you still weren't lying down, fixing your hair or checking your phone to look like you were busy when in fact you were trying to ready yourself and soothe your nerves.

     "y/n?" your throat became dry upon hearing hange's tired voice just behind you. you turned your head slowly to face them, seeing them laying on their side facing you. their brown locks were out of their usual ponytail, framing their face messily. the moonlight reflecting from the window gave their feature a soft glow and you knew, just then, that your heart skipped a beat upon seeing them.
