soon enough, night came. you woke up around six o'clock after taking a well-deserved nap, seeing your colleagues enter their hotel room to rest for a bit before going out to eat dinner.

sasha coaxed you out of your bed to eat with them but you lied and told your friend that your ankle still hurts and that you'd have a hard time walking. the others promised you instead that they'd bring you back some food, even when you told them not to when you'll make use of the room service. hange then excused themselves from the dinner, explaining that they still had to review the samples they got. them being your friends, sasha gave you a weird smile while annie rose an eyebrow towards you before leaving the room with the others.

"woah, hiding things sure are exhausting." hange chirped out as they plopped down on the bed the two shares, making sure to avoid your injured ankle.

you laughed and turned to your side, placing your arm around their torso before pulling yourself close to hange to snuggle deeply in their arms. "you'll get used to it, eventually."

hange only grinned, pecking their forehead before sitting up to grab the telephone from the nightstand. "well then, let's eat, shall we?" they pressed a button and placed the telephone on their ear, telling the receptionist of the hotel the food the two wanted to eat.

"i forgot to ask," you mumbled while shoving a spoonful of f/f down your throat, "what's the results of the samples?"

currently, the two of you were eating on a table near the television. you and hange faced each other just like when you were on a date. however, what you had in mind during the dinner wasn't a talk about their current project but you grew curious considering you stayed in the whole day.

"microplastics." was all hange's reply, "the pH level of the water is a bit high than normal but it's not that extreme for the animals to die."

you pursed your lips and nodded in understanding, "that sucks ass. removing microplastics is gonna be hard." you sighed out.

hange only laughed, reaching over to squeeze your hand as a way of comfort. "don't worry, we're smart. we can clean 'em up within a few months!" they exclaimed, "plus... i already had a plan."

you quirked an eyebrow, "what? since when?"

the glasses of hange glinted, hiding their eyes as they smirked in your direction. "babe, being a scientist means you have to be prepared for every outcome." they hummed out, feeling a bit proud of themselves. "plus, i expected something like this so..."

you only grinned and continued eating, taking their sweet time together. the two of you would laugh and joke about something funny, mostly about your stupidity or things that happened in the past.

"i always wanted to ask..." you bit your lip and looked down at your plate, the tip of your ears turning red. "since when did you like me?" you sheepishly asked.

hange smiled at the sight of your flustered state and laughed before answering, "you caught my attention when you started working under me."

"but that's a long time ago!" you exclaimed, your cheeks heating up in embarrassment. just how come?!

"i know!" hange replied as if they couldn't believe it themselves. "i forgot why i even liked you in the first place but maybe it's because you were hardworking? cute? pretty?"
