You sat with Isabelle by her desk as you waited for the Gameboy's friends to arrive.
Isabelle turned out to be a good therapist when she asked about your story.
"I could never imagine dying here.." she shuddered after you finished explaining your betrayal by "Flowey" as she called him.
"I didn't know you could..!" You said to defend your decision.
She nodded kindly and passed you an apple, "You must be hungry after that adventure." Isebelle smiled.
You paused, fully realizing you were starving now.
The apple was a bright red and was incredibly sweet when you took a bite.
Silence fell and your thoughts took over.
Am I really meant to be a leader here..?
Why was I chosen? I'm sure there others more capable of being leaders than I am."Hey Isabelle?"
"Yes Y/n? Is there something you need?"
You hesitated, the question stuck in your throat.
"Do you know why I could have been chosen for a leader..?"
She might know since she works with the Gameboy...
She pondered for a moment.
"I'm sorry, I don't fully know.. I was never the best at learning how the Player process worked.." She admitted sadly, but lifted her head up a bit, "I do remember the Gameboy's first day though.. He had asked the same thing.."
"He.. Did?"
Isabelle nodded and smiled again, "He was so nervous about everything when he first came." She began, looking lost in the memories, " He was the only human we had ever been able to interact with outside our games, so you can imagine the shock and surprise we felt when he arrived.
He claimed that he was trying to hack into a game when it took him in, but that didn't go well with a few characters.." She shook her head.He was a hacker..?!
"Poor Cosmo wasn't a very liked person-"
"Cosmo?" You interrupted, not understanding who Cosmo was.
"OH! " Sudden fear crossed her face, "Please don't say I told you, but that is his name..! " Isabelle said with a nervous expression.
Cosmo the Gameboy.... Huh..
"Anyway, " she began again, " It wasn't until he helped stop a virus from corrupting the city.
He was able to bend code and stop it from using any more characters!""It was using them?"
"Oh, they would get corrupted and become hostile..." she recounted, "Normal friendly characters would turn evil and angry.."
You shuddered thinking of your favorite characters going against their nature and hurting others.
"After that, The others were glad to finally open up to him, but sadly, he couldn't go back having used what he could to make sure nothing was destroyed."
You listened to the story, feeling a new respect for the Gameboy - or Cosmo.
Isabelle paused and looked worried, "Oh! I was rambling! I'm sorry Y/n!" She apologized.
"It's alright..!" You smiled, trying to get her to stop apologizing.
A teleportation sounded toward the entrance.
You turned to see two people entering, but they looked more charactery than human.
Ocs..
The taller one was a female with blonde wispy hair and looked ready for battle with the armor and gun on her back.
The shorter one had short brown hair with a mask that covered his face, yet it displayed emotions like a normal face would.
These must be his friends..
You stood up, being nearly the same height as the female.
"Player?" She asked in a serious voice, eyeing you closely.
You gave her a nod.
"Pleasure. We are your protection group!"
