Ophelia's Orphanage was not one's idea of fun. The building itself sent chills down an unsuspecting visitors spine. A man walked down the cobbled path to the door, a girl following him. The girl's light brown hair was tied in a ponytail, reaching her mid back. She wore clothes almost unheard of in this area, a violet cloak, and she seemed to walk with a sense of confidence. The man seemed almost elderly, donning a long white beard and hair, which could easily be tucked into his belt. He too, wore a similar attire to the girl.

The girl picked up her speed, and was soon in line with the man, a confused expression on her countenance. Excuse me, sir. She signed, Would you mind explaining what we're doing here?

The man chuckled, examining her over his half-moon spectacles. "We are here to deliver a letter to a boy your age, Maddy," he told her. "My information tells me he has a sister who's deaf, so you two will be able to communicate. And haven't you been asking how you could help the Order?"

Earlier that month, her father had been asked to join a secret Order, called the Order of the Phoenix, to combat the return of Lord Voldemort, or as Maddy calls him, Lord Voldy Smorts. She was staying at the Headquarters, 12 Grimmauld Place, for the time being with her honorary godfather, convicted murderer Sirius Black, the Weasley family, and Hermione Granger. Her father was usually with them as well, but he was a werewolf, and seeing as that night was the full moon, he was taking sanctuary away from people.

How come I haven't got my letter yet, Professor Dumbledore? Maddy asked, frowning at the prospect of not receiving one.

"We still haven't found a Defence Against the Dark Arts' professor, so we are waiting to send the letters for children in magical families. Since the boy we are going to meet today lives in an orphanage, he'll need a little more explaining." Dumbledore stopped as they had reached the door, "This reminds me of when I delivered a letter to a boy in an orphanage over fifty years ago."

Maddy had to crane her neck to look at him properly. You've done this before? Then why am I here?

Dumbledore gave her a weak smile, "That boy didn't turn out as, for lack of better words, good as I had hoped. I believe he'll just need companionship. And, seeing as you're in his year, and already live with the Order, I decided to bring you along." He lifted up his hand, and knocked gently at the door. It creaked open, and Dumbledore took that as a sign to enter, Maddy following apprehensively behind him.

"Hello, miss." Dumbledore said politely to the woman at the front desk. "My name is Headmaster Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, and I'm headmaster at a boarding school called Hogwarts. I believe you have a boy here named Simon Lomen?"

The woman looked up from the book she was reading, and put a pair of glasses on the bridge of her nose. "Simon, you say? He's been accepted into this school? He hasn't put in any applications to my knowledge."

"His parents put it in when he was born." explained Dumbledore.

"Has Darienne been accepted as well?"

"You need to be eleven to enter this school. She'll join him in a year's time. Do you mind if I speak to him?"

"They're in the second bunk room on the left." She took off her glasses, and stuck her nose back in her paperwork.

Lovely woman. Maddy commented. Dumbledore didn't respond, just stopping in front of the bunk room, the door already slightly ajar. He knocked, and a boy opened it. He was about the same age as Maddy, about eleven. He had cropped bleach blonde hair, and his eyes were different colours. The right one was a sapphire, while the left was a jade colour.

The boy gave them a small smile, "Hello, sir. Ms. Freeway is in the room to the right."

Dumbledore lightly pushed the door open, and the boy stepped back. "I'm actually looking for Simon Lomen."
