Umbridge's class was a living hell, for lack of better words. All the Gryffindors leaned over Allie and Polly's desk, the former a copy of The Quibbler in her hands. The Slytherins in the class were talking quietly amongst themselves a copy of The Quibbler in front of Annabel Burke.

Umbridge stormed into the classroom unannounced, grabbing both copies of The Quibbler from Allie and Annabel's hand.

"I was reading that," complained Allie, holding out her hand to take the newspaper back, "Class hadn't started, you can't take it."

"She's got a point, y'know?" muttered Annabel, shell shocked about having the newspaper plucked from between her fingers.

"I will not have this blasphemy in my classroom!" Umbridge proclaimed, putting the paper on the front desk, which belonged to Maddy and Simon, and with the flick of her wand, burnt the two to a crisp.

An uproar erupted between the students. "My paper!" cried Annabel, tears streaming down her face, Lesley Ryan, her best friend, gripped her hand from under the desk. The Slytherin's may not have normally read The Quibbler, or cared much about it, but they were protective of their belongings, Annabel especially. Even Maddy, who only knew of her from a distance, knew that about Annabel Burke.

Maddy felt her insides begin to boil. It was as if she had shook a bottle of soda, and she was ready to explode. She made her way to her desk, and with a swipe of her hand, blew the ashes off the desk and into Umbridge's pink dress, and with little regard to the rule, climbed onto the desk.

She was already near Umbridge in height, so standing on the desk made her tower over the other people in the room. The soles of her boots made an imprint in the ashes she hadn't managed to blow off the table, and the knees of her white stockings were coated from when she climbed up.

Umbridge recovered quickly from the shock of her on the table. "Get down, Lupin!" she shrieked, her voice high pitched and shrill, "Right now."

Maddy didn't bother to sign, she knew Umbridge wouldn't understand. She just shook her head violently and crossed her arms, the sleeves of her robes rolling up.

Allie glanced at her in worry, tapping Simon's arm and pointing wordlessly at Maddy's towering figure. "I'm not going to look," muttered Simon, covering his eyes, "I don't want to know."

Umbridge continued screeching at Maddy to get down, resorting to grabbing Maddy's arm in an attempt to yank her off but Maddy just kicked her arm, hard.

The class had gone wild, all the students were yelling and screaming. Some in support of Maddy, and others in support of Umbridge. Simon still faced the wall, his eyes sewn shut, occasionally jumping when someone yelped. Allie's lip was near bleeding from how hard she bit it.

"LUPIN GET DOWN!" screamed Umbridge. In one last attempt, she pulled Maddy's arm, but she kept her footing. Umbridge turned towards Scarlette McMillan, "Go get Professor McGonagall."

Scarlette stared at her for a second, until Umbridge croaked, "Now!" And Scarlette scurried off, her green Slytherin robes bellowing out behind her.

"Get down, Maddy," mumbled Simon, though he still hadn't turned to look at her. His face had paled considerably, leaving him a sickly hue. Allie looked sickly as well, though she kept her eyes plastered on Maddy.

Scarlette returned with Professor McGonagall in tow, a scared look on her face.

"I have a class —" started Professor McGonagall, until she noticed what was happening. "Miss Lupin!"

Maddy looked at the Transfiguration teacher, and gave her a big smile and wave before jumping off the desk and skipping over to Professor McGonagall.
