Simon held the cuffed sleeves of his oversized jumper as he leaned against the wall next to the door, staring into space. He didn't care that it was August, and it was twenty-one degrees Celsius, and that he could be wearing tees and shorts. He waited patiently, just listening to the cars on the streets and the people in the house.

Maddy skipped forward, a smile on her face. She donned her new leather jacket with pride, on top of a Holyhead Harpies shirt she received from Ginny. The green shirt stood out from behind the black jacket and skinny jeans she wore, though, she was so scrawny that the jeans looked almost normal on her. She spotted Simon, and her grin only seemed to multiply by the tenfold.

We're getting our wands! She signed, her signs almost unreadable with how much she was bouncing in place.

"I'm excited." said Simon. He wasn't nearly as bouncy as Maddy was, at the moment she seemed almost incapable of staying still, quite opposite to him.

Remus walked over to them and opened the door, "Ready?"

They both nodded, and left the house rather quickly, Remus shutting the door behind them. When they reached the sidewalk, Simon frowned, looking around the deserted street.

"Mr. Lupin?" he whispered, "Where exactly are we supposed to get all our school supplies? Are there department stores for us?"

Remus shrugged. "We're going to what we call Diagon Alley. You'll see when we arrive."

Maddy, who had been ahead of the others, skipping and twirling down the street, stopped at the curb, throwing a glance over her shoulder, before venturing down an alley. Simon and Remus followed her, and soon all three stopped and Remus pulled his wand from his pocket.

"Simon, are you prone to motion sickness?"

Simon frowned, and looked up at Remus, "Sometimes, why?"

Remus didn't answer, instead opting to hold his wand out in front of him. It didn't take long for the Knight Bus to arrive. Simon, the only of the three not to take the Knight Bus before, stared in shock and horror at the bus.

Remus waved his wand, and a plastic bag appeared in his hand, and he silently handed it to Simon as Maddy climbed on the bus.

"What's this for?" asked Simon, examining the empty bag in his hand.

Remus gave Simon a smirk, and held out his hand to help him on the bus. "If you sometimes get motion sickness, then we better be safe than sorry." He turned to the driver, "Diagon Alley, please."

He led Simon to where Maddy was sitting, her legs dangling on the side of the chair, staring out the window. Remus sat next to her, and Simon sat last.

Simon ended up needing the bag, the unexpected jolt and speed of the bus did nothing to help hold his breakfast. By the end of the ride, his hair was matted to his forehead, and his normal twinkle in his sapphire eye had vanished.

Remus vanished the bag, and stood up, holding out his hand for Simon to hold, and he took it shakily, using his other hand to brace himself.

Maddy looked worriedly in his direction, but ran off the bus regardless, waiting for her father and Simon outside the Leaky Cauldron.

"Can we take a cab on the way home?" Simon pleaded, running his hand through his hair. "I never want to go on that bus again."

Maddy chuckled. That's the Knight Bus. She informed him. Probably not the best for people who have motion sickness.

"Tell me about it." He muttered. "So —" he looked around the street. "— where are we exactly?"

Maddy grabbed his hand and skipped towards the door, pushing it open to reveal the pub. Welcome, she said, dropping her hand from Simon's, to the Leaky Cauldron.
