Journey To The West Vent

This was written as a vent, I believe a few months ago, and I thought I'd finally share it here. If you have any ideas on how to continue this, I'd love to hear them!

There once was a girl named Courtney. For the most part, she was a happy girl. But there would be times when she felt down out of nowhere. It may have something about the stress she's had to deal with. It may have something to do with things from her past that eat away at her, even when it's in the back of her head. Maybe it was just her low self-esteem. Maybe it's the friends and family she's lost over the years, whether it was because of just drifting apart, cutting ties with them, or death. Maybe it's all of the above.

But one night, she found herself in a different world. The world of Journey to the West, like she was a part of the story. The first time she traveled there, she was living alongside Sun Wukong before he caused in uproar in heaven. The next time was 500 years after, when he was freed and sent to help Sanzang travel to India to get the Buddhist scriptures.

On this journey, she got closer to her new companions.

Sanzang became her teacher, teaching her about Buddhism and various other customs.

Bajie became like her crazy older brother, who would tell her stories of how he 'lead armies of thousands'.

Wujing also become like an older brother to her, telling her about his life while he was in Heaven and after he was banished.

Wukong, well, her and Wukong became more than friends on their journey.

But, like every story, this one eventually had to come to an end. Wukong and Sanzang achieve Buddhahood, Wujing becomes an arhat, and Bajie is promoted to altar cleanser.

As for Courtney... well, it was time for her to go home...

That was, until Guanyin realized how upset Courtney would be to leave her newfound friends.

So, as Courtney's reward for helping them on their journey, she was gifted with a ring. A ring that looked like Wukong's old head band. This ring would allow Courtney to travel back to visit Sanzang, Wukong, Bajie, and Wujing whenever she wanted to.

So, anytime Courtney feels down in the dumps or just misses them, she's able to visit them with ease.
