PANG. The loud banging sound of the office door startled Mr. Bang who was busy reviewing the mountain of documents stacked on his desk. He tilted his head slightly to look up and only to witness an agitated yet panting inspector in front of him with her hands on her hips.
Girl, take a chill pill.
"I-Is everything alright, Inspector Choi?" Mr. Bang asked hesitantly while adjusting his tie.
"Alright?! Sir! Why did you cancel my course in China for the next two months!!?? I mean, what should I do here?! Why did you have to do that? Don't you want me to advance my ranking sir?" Inspector Choi argued as she slams her hand on her boss's desk and glared at him with a sheer outrageous look.
"Of course I want you to advance your ranking, Inspector Choi. But with the current cases happening here in Korea, I think you should settle things here since... well, you are needed here at times." Mr. Bang sighed but that didn't calm Inspector Choi at all.
This was madness. That's what she thinks.
"Besides, we have new interns coming to the agency. I have selected an intern for the investigation department and I would like you to supervise her." Mr. Bang continued but only earning a scoff from the inspector.
"The investigation department? What is she? Trying to be like me who is best at cracking assassination cases? With all due respect sir but may I see her records?" Inspector Choi asked calmly while gesturing a hand out as Mr. Bang handed her the intern files.
She flips through the documents of every intern for the investigation department and stumbles across a familiar application.
"Song Kyung Mi..." She muttered under her breath as flashbacks from the incident at the hospital flash through her mind.
"Something wrong, inspector?" Inspector Choi shooked her head in denial.
"May I hold on to this file?" Mr. Bang nodded and Inspector Choi excuses herself and headed back to her office.
Once she reached her office, she plops down on her comfy chair designated for her and places the file on her desk as she runs through the detailed information of Kyung Mi's application.
"A brother named Song Hangyeom... family background unknown... awarded for best-written criminal case studies..." She muttered.
"Born on 20th April, year 2000..." She scrunched her nose as she read the date of Kyung Mi's birth.
It was the exact date of her family's death.
Inspector Choi got out the ring from her desk drawer which she kept since the hospital events. Her eyes carefully scanning through the gold lining of the ring as she caresses it.
"Just who do you think you are... Song Kyung Mi..."

Kyung Mi's pov
"Daebak..." I muttered under my breath while I stood outside the Seoul Intelligence Agency company, admiring how massive it is and how fascinated the structure of the building design. Apparently, Jimin said that the building is built this way as there were many departments under Seoul Intelligence and I never knew the agency had so many departments.
Lucky for me, Jimin brought me to the agency early for my first day as an intern. Yes, Hangyeom did not realize anything and that I only left him a note saying I'm working part-time with Young Rae at some cafe. Though I am worried about all this internship stuff. Don't get me wrong even though I excel in my course doesn't mean my internship will be a piece of cake. Since it's the summer holidays, Mr. Jung said my internship will help give me extra credits before I graduate.
Just imagine if I passed the internship after 3 months, I get to work here. What a dream...
"So, what do you think?" Jimin asked as he places his arm on my shoulder.
"It's amazing! I can't believe I'm going to work here." He smiled as he ruffled my hair that was once neat but not anymore.
"I'm sure you'll do great..." Jimin muttered but before I can utter anything, a familiar tall figure approaches us.
"Oh, morning Inspector Choi." Jimin greeted and bowed. I advert my gaze and witness it was Inspector Choi who is dressed formally.
"Morning... and who do we have here?" Inspector Choi stood tall in front of us as she pops the question with a serious tone.
"Hello, I'm the new intern for the summer program of Seoul Intelligence Agency, Song Kyung Mi. It's nice to meet you..." I introduced myself as I bowed politely.
"If I'm not mistaken, you were the one I met in the hospital when I visited Park Jimin." Inspector Choi stated and I nodded without hesitation.
"Yes. I was the one who returned your I.D card." She only nodded before getting down to business.
"Well, you are early for the program today. Feel free to wander around the building but make sure to clock in before you do that. If you'll excuse me, I have a meeting to attend." Inspector Choi explained before excusing herself, the sound of her high heels clicking on the marble floor tile echoed the lobby as I stared at her silhouette from the back.
Wow, such professionalism.
"That's Inspector Choi Sang Mi. She's our elite inspector in the investigation department and... she's quite distant with other people so don't mind about her." Jimin nudged my arm as he drags me towards the halls.
The elite inspector in the investigation department? Man, when can I live up to that role one day.
"We should find Taera and get you signed up..." I nodded before heading towards the room which I assumed is Ms. Taera's office.
"Come in!" A voice called after Jimin knock on the door 3 times and he opened the door revealing a few other people waiting in there, probably I'd say about 12 people? Wait, maybe this ain't Ms. Taera's office at all and more of a conference room.
And Inspector Choi said I was early, pft.
"Oh Agen- I mean Park Jimin, you're here early a-and I see you have brought the new intern." Taera stuttered as she turns off the projection slide on the monitor before every head in the room turned towards us. "Did I... miss something?"
"Nah, this is just urm... some morning call meeting with the other members." Taera explained before coming towards us, stumbling with her heels in the process. "Well, since you two have arrived, Kyung Mi why don't you meet the other interns." Taera suggested, gesturing at the five men who sat on the opposite side of the table.
"Meet TXT, they're new interns in SIA as well and they will be under the special agent department." Taera explained. "TXT?" I asked in confusion.
"Well, apparently Mr. Bang prefers them to be in a team rather than individually so they will be graded based on teamwork strategies and group work." I nodded and glanced at them before cracking a smile.
"Boys, this is intern Song Kyung Mi and she will be under the investigation department. Now I know you both aren't in the same field but as members of SIA, it is our duty to protect and served the agency at all cost alright?" The members of TXT nodded before one of them stood up, dusting his suit in the process.
"Choi Soobin, it's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Song." He introduced, sticking a hand out for me to greet and I return it with sheer tenacity through my grip.
"The pleasure is all mine, Choi Soobin."
|| Yes it is I, the one and only author-nim and I'm back from my dark and lonely cave which, I know I probably deserve a smack or two for my intense lack-ness of updates. Quarantine is hard and all and its almost a year for me :') and with all the chaos surrounding me, I was not in the right state of mind to write and the plot line for this book has been like legit the hardest thing I ever set my pen on it huhu. I will try to update more often since I've finally finished my examinations but my brain is still lag and I have to re-dig my draft for this book which means I also have to reread the whole story. Nonetheless, thank you all the long wait and I hope to finish this book asap as I am currently planning for other writing projects in the future. Cheerios||
