We got up the next morning and got ready for the day. We put the clothes on that I picked out. I put on black basket shorts, Green Day shirt, and Vans. Alex put on dark brown cargo shorts, a Linkin Park shirt, and Converse.
"You didn't choose anything outrageous?" He was surprised.
"I'm not changing." I declared.
He changed into an Obituary shirt and handed me my Murderdolls
"I'll make dinner tonight." He bribed.
"In that case. 100% no. I don't want the whole fire department here." I responded.
That made him laugh. The barbecue was at noon. But we waited a few minutes afterwards until we went.
It was in Linda's backyard. People were just walking back there so we did too. There's like no people around our age in this neighborhood. Linda walked up to us. I was already a little anxious.
"Oliver. It's nice to see you again. Happy that you came." She greeted. "Who's this?"
"Hello, I'm Alex." Alex introduced himself.
"Oh. You're Alex." She clearly felt a little embarrassed.
But didn't want to apologize in front of him for assuming that he's a girl.
"My name is Linda." She responded. She then turned around. "Everybody! I'd like to make an announcement!" She got everyone's attention. Oh god. Everybody's eyes were facing me. "I'd like you to meet our newest neighbors; Alex, and Oliver!"
She then moved out of the way for us. I felt my face turn bright red. And my heart start to beat out of my chest. So Alex talked.
"Hello. I'm Alex, and this is my boyfriend Oliver. We're both 18, and just moved here like a month ago. And weren't really expecting to be introduced. But okay." He introduced us shrugging by the end.
Some people went back to talking, while the others came up to us. Oh god. I'm gonna actually die. I want to run back home. But I knew I couldn't.
"Not to sound rude or anything. But if you're only 18, how can you afford a house like that?" A woman asked.
"Oh, my grandfather passed his company down to me when he died. So I own a multimillion dollar company. So that pretty much pays the bills." Alex answered in a humorous tone.
"What do you do?" She asked me.
"He goes to school." Alex answered for me. Knowing that I legitimately wasn't able to.
"Are you okay? Are you going to talk?" The woman was starting to get worried.
And other people noticed it too. And were starring. I couldn't take it anymore. My stomach dropped.
"I-I'm sorry. But... I- gotta g-go..." I stuttered.
I then ran back home. Barely even touching the ground. I ran into the hall closet. Even though it wasn't really a closet anymore. I go here whenever I want/need to get away from people. Alex has never seen this.
It has no clothes or anything you'd really find in a closet. It has LED lights handing up, a lava lamp, music, two beanbags, a blanket, and little random things likes a rubic cube and fidget cubes and lots of books.
I don't really know why I like it here. It's very claustrophobic. But it's comforting. It's like when you were a kid and you'd build a pillow fort. But better. I sat there on a bean bag and turned on some music quietly. And calmed down.
I heard Alex walking around the house looking for me. I then felt a dog scratch on the closet door.
"What the fuck?" I heard Alex say.
He then opened the door and I looked up at him as his jaw almost dropped to the floor.
"Holy hell Olli. When and why did you do this?"
