Chapter 27

Gil's POV
spring break. thank god. i was walking to the quad (lunch area) i just went on my phone hoping i'd magically become invisible. not that im mad at anyone i'd just rather not have anyone talk to me. i sat there for a good 30 minutes on my phone not even realizing i could just get up and drive home. i guess it was kinda like muscle memory to stay in the quad and wait for Anne to come out and hang out with me. Anne. ughhhh i miss her. i could just walk up ti her right now and talk to her but it won't be the same. i know how i feel about her and talking to her would just make me feel worse. but i can't just ghost her. ughh this is annoying. i just decided to go for it and talk to her. she was surprisingly alone. i walked up to her and sat down next to her
"hi" i said awkwardly hoping for a reply
"oh uh hi!" Anne said as if she were surprised
"what's up?" i said adding a little chuckle at the end trying to make things less awkward.
"um nothing just doing homework" she said
"cool"
WHY CAN'T I TALK NORMALLY
"so why have you been so distant are you ok?" she asked looking a little worried
"oh um im just kind of um a little overwhelmed with school i guess" i said obviously lying
"are you sureee"
"yes!" i said letting out a laugh
"good" she smiled. i looked into her eyes and she looked into mine. we just stayed like that for a few seconds until i realized it was too long and looked away and out of nervousness said,
"so uh what are you doing after school"
"um nothing. why?"
"wanna come over?"
"yeah,"
yes you got this gilbert
".. can cole come too?"
wow
"uhm what?" i asked making sure i actually heard this right
"can cole come too" she said adding a little laugh
ughhhh. i hate this. i hate him. no. shut up gilbert. be fair.
"yeah sure. that's great." i said in kind of an angry tone. i don't think she noticed it though thankfully.
"alright i'll call him right now." she said getting out her phone and pressing on his contact. i noticed his name on her contact list
"coleeee❤️"
I- 😔. you know what it's fine. let her do what she wants it's fine.
"heyy bebe. so im going to gilbert's house today and we were wondering if you wanna come?"
"bebe"?? wtf does that even mean. UGH. and since when did she start calling me gilbert? what happened to gil?
"gilbert!! hellooo??" Anne said tryna get my attention
"huh?"
"he said he could come, but i have to go home cause Marilla needs me for something. cole needs a ride though so you guys can go ahead and leave i'll be there around 3:30. good?"
i really don't waannnaaa
"uhm yeah that's fine"
"ok cool! well Marilla's here so im gonna go see you then." she said as she got up and hugged me
she can't do that to me
"bye."
then she walked away. as i was watching her i see cole sit down in the corner of my eye.
"hey you ready to go?" he asked
"uh yeah let's go."
we got to my car and we drove it was silent the whole time. I think we both felt the thicc awkward tension in there. finally we arrived at my house and thank god Anne was already there waiting on the steps of my porch.
"finallyyy" she said as she got up and walked to the front door.
"shut up" i replied with a laugh
i opened the door and cole walked inside first and fell onto my couch.
why does he think he can just-? you know what it's FINE just calm dooowwnnn

i walked in with Anne who ran to the couch and jumped on TOP of cole. they both started laughing

i walked to the kitchen and shouted
"you guys want anything to eat? drink?"
"im good" Anne said
"can i get water pleaasee??" cole said
"yup." i muttered under my breathz
i walked back with the water and they were both on their phones.
i gave the water to cole and sat down.
"you guys wanna watch anything?" i asked
"yess!!" anne replied
"what genre?"
"let's do horror" cole said
"alright."
i turned on the tv and got sole blankets for us and pressed play on hereditary.
this is gonna be a long night.
