Death by a father

Zoe

   I hate the place I live. The Grang rules over all of the children. We have no idea where are parents are. We live in horrible dorms that are really colorful. Nobody here likes the dorms, expect for Savannah. The Grang like Savannah the best. probably because when she was found she was wearing a bright pink dress, with bright pink leggings, and bright pink shoes. 

   The Grang wears brightly colored clothes and tells us of a far away place. A place where people only walk on one surface. Here, we walk on  any side of the house, inside, outside, walls, ceiling, or anywhere. I don't know if I believe the myth of another universe, some people believe that it isn't a myth and that there really is another universe.

   Leo is a really good friend of mine. Well, we are more than friends. I met him through his sister, Leonora. Leonora is my roommate, and she is really cool. Well, our dorms are very small and we share them with a few people. I bunk with Leonora, Kendall, and Carmen. I have known those three my entire life because as soon as we are born we are put into this place. According to myth, we came from the world where you walk on the floor. People are crazy to believe that in some world people can't walk on the walls and ceiling.

   "Hey, Zoe!"

   "Hi, Leonora"

   "So...What were you and Leo up doing late last night?"

   "We saw The Grang. It looked like he was leaving."

   "But he said that he never leaves. He never leaves as to make sure that we don't try to escape"

   "I don't know what happened, or what he was doing, but whatever it is, he still isn't back. Yesterday, he spent more time out of his office than in his office, and you know how often he typically leaves his office."

   "You are right. He never leaves his office! What was he doing last night? Did you follow him? Were was he going?"

   "I don't know, no, and I don't know." Even though Leonora talks really really REALLY fast, Zoe had learned how to keep up. And how to calm her down, so that she would slow down.

   "Oh, okay," She sounded a tad bit disappointed, "Well, what time was it, when you saw him leaving?"

   "It was about 0250 in the morning. We didn't see him come back because he was out for a very long time. We were really tired and decided it would be best to setting in for the night."

   "About what time did you come back to the room?"

   "About 0350 in the morning."

   "Well then"

   "What? You know were he was going."

   "I don't know and I don't like what I found."

   "What?"

   "I will tell you after dinner. I don't want anyone else to know, but..."

   "What?"

   "Whatever you do, you cannot tell Leo. You have to swear to me that you will not tell Leo," She paused, "Or anyone else for that matter. Do you swear not to tell anyone?"

   "I absolutely positively swear that I will not tell Leo Leos, or anyone else, what Leonora is going to tell me later.

   "Good. And you know what happens if you don't stay with your word."

   "Does that have to be the way swears work?"

  "Of course yes!"

   "But why? Why not something or someone else."

   "Because the person who doesn't stand up to their word should be the one who is punished."

   "Okay, but I think that you just came up with that while we were standing there." Zoe pointed to the place on the floor. It was a few steps behind them because they had started to walk towards the dinning hall, where they will be serving breakfast.

   "Nope! But come on, I am really hungry, and we need to get there before Raquin and Retynn take our seats. Kendall and Carmen will not be happy."

   "Yeah. They hate those boys, we all do."

   "Come one." They started walking to the dinning hall, where their friends were sitting, saving them each a seat. The dinning hall was a very big room. It is just like any old dinning hall. There were a bunch of little tables. They had been told that there are three hundred tables, but Zoe thought that this was just another myth that the kids come up with. They come up with lots and lots of stories that aren't even really, just because it is the most fun thing to do here. Leonora and Zoe walked up to the table that Carmen and Kendall were at. Leo and Carmen's boyfriend Elias were there. 

   "You guys are finally here!" Leo exclaimed.

   "Yeah." Leonora said as she sat down in the seat next to Kendall. Leonora lowered her voice so that only Zoe could hear her, "Remember what happens if you break it."

   Abbey Aster, one of the most popular girls in the place, walked by and said, "Yeah. Remember." She walked away laughing, with Middy Morly and Are Ausre.
