✧. ┊"Curly blonde hair, about 5' 5."
She leaned against the shop counter, with the radio talkie to her lips. She was talking with Renee as she was on her break until she got a call. They would take turns keeping an eye on Mads. She sat and just watched her as she talked with Jerome over the radio.
"Do you want to come and see if it's her?"
She gulped and her nerves tingling with anticipation, "...yeah, I will."
"I'll send Nick to pick you up."
"Alright."
She sets the talkie down and she sighs, unsure if she is ready.
"It will be okay Blake." Renee assures. "I'm sure it isn't your mother."
She nods and smiles slightly at her friend's words. She hopes they aren't either...
She watched as the bright yellow plane landed in the middle of the long driveway of the Hope County Jail. She smiles and waves at Nick, who jumps out and she hugs him.
"Hey kiddo," He says and she observes him and Carmina. "How is your sister doing?"
"Very slow...it's getting hard to even hang out in her cell...I'm sure I'll figure out how to fix her."
"I'm sure too, you ready?" He motions toward his bright yellow pride and she nods. With Nick's help, she gets in the back, and he climbs into his own seat. He started it up and she felt that they were in the air, once he pulled up over the Jail. He makes a 90 degree turn and she yells out, not used to the feeling of being in a plane at all.
She heard Nick laugh and he leveled the plane, letting her get a good view of all of Hope County. She could see the destroyed statue, the jagged Whitetail Mountains and as they flew into Holland Valley, the giant YES sign that advertised itself high above the plains and Fall's End.
They decrease in altitude along a dirt road. She felt them lower and slowed their speed, then a thud as they landed. She got out once Nick did and it felt good to be back on the ground. She looked ahead and there was Jerome and a few other faces she recognized from Fall's End when she stayed there.
"You made it." Jerome says but his tone wasn't as hopeful as it usually was. She had forgotten what she was here for because of the joyride.
Three women were tied up against the base of a tall silo. The word Gluttony was painted in black pain above them. They were stripped of their shirts and blood coated their skins. Bags were also over their heads and she gulps. She clenches her fists, preparing herself.
"Do you want us to do it Blake?" Nick asks and she shakes her head.
"I...I can do it." She could smell the bodies and she held her breath, almost gagging as she pulled the bag off the first body. The woman was pretty but it wasn't her mom. She pulled off the second one, her heart racing as she observed the woman's face. It wasn't her either. Then the last one. Her fingers trembled as she slowly pulled the bag off the last one's head. She let out her breath, tossing the bag to the ground. None of them were her mom. She was relieved but it angered her that these women were left here.
"None of them are her." She turns around to Jerome and he nods.
"We'll continue to keep an eye out for her Blake."
She forces a smile, hoping that when she finds her mom, she won't be like those women. She turns to Nick and he gives her a small encouraging smile as he starts to climb into his plane. She spots an ATV by its lonesome by some trees across the road.
"Nick, can I drive myself back to the Hope County Jail?"
"In what?"
"That four wheeler over there." She points and he eyes her.
"Blake-"
"Faith is dead, so it's gonna be safer now in Henbane. Also when we drove here, there weren't any roadblocks so i'll be okay." She assures and he sighs.
"Stay on the radio with me so that I know you are okay. Got it?"
She smiles and nods, "I will." She hugs him and waves to Jerome before heading over to the ATV. She watches as Nick flies up in the air and flies away. She stays on the radio with him as she drives, feeling the wind in her hair. She has tried her best to take care of it, but she has mostly just left it in a braid. She hums as she gets closer to the Henbane River. She looks around, keeping her guard up. She notices several white trucks drive by and she looks back at them as one stops. Suddenly they turn around and her eyes widen. Oh no... oh no...
"Nick!!" She yells into her radio as she hears the truck come up behind her. She feels pain in her back and she feels herself slide off the ATV, going black.
Her head explodes with pain as she moves, trying to open her eyes. She could feel something on her back, which was most likely a bandage. The walls of the room she was in reminded her of a bunker, and she wasn't the only one in the room. She sits up, holding her head and looking over the others in the room. There were two women, one pregnant and the other holding a toddler. Then a boy around her age, sitting in the corner. About 3 beds foldout were in the room.
"Are you okay dear?" The pregnant lady asks and she nods, looking around and standing up. She stumbles over to the barred door. She could see down the hallway, spotting boxes and barrels.
"Where am I?" She asks, fear starting to bubble in her throat.
"John's bunker."
"John?" She wasn't sure what to think. She would see him standing next to Joseph on the days her parents took her to church, but all she saw when she looked at him is that he had a beard and glasses like Joseph. She remembered what that cultist said when she was in that van, as well as to when Fall's End was overrun by cultists. He would carve your sin onto you and slice it off as a part of atonement.
She takes a deep breath, leaning against the wall as all she heard was silence. Then she heard talking down the hall. Then a groaning like metal against metal. She looked out the bar door and saw some cultists with guns in their hands. Then she saw him, John walking around the corner.
She backed up some as they unlocked the door, and a cultist dropped some plates to the floor. It was food and the two women and boy hurried towards them as if they were a pack of hungry dogs. She didn't though, turning to glance at John who stood behind the cultist who began to close the door, until John stopped him. His eyes were on her and she gulped.
"Grab that one."
She started to back up as it went back inside, grabbing her arm. She pulled away, and that just made him glare at her. He grabbed her more forcefully and dragged her from the room. The door is shut and locked and she lets her feet drag, glaring at John as he follows behind.
"Blake right?"
Chills go down her spine but she tries not to waver, trying to pull on her arms.
"You are never too young to atone." He says calmly. "If you are conscious of your thoughts, and know what you are doing is wrong. Then you can be cleansed. What is your sin little one?"
She says nothing, just glaring. "No." She says as she finally speaks.
He laughs, his hand on his chest. They turn a few corners and suddenly they stop and she pulls on her arms more.
"I'd figured you could use some convincing. So I'll let you two talk."
She hears a door open and feels herself be thrown into a room. She was sure her ribs shook as it hit the concrete and she gasped for air, trying to ignore the pain. She sits up to her knees and she eyes the door, before hearing a scoff behind her. She narrows her eyes and turns to her right, seeing a woman with long messy blonde hair, bruises, a tank top, jeans and heels. Her mother.
