I hope you enjoy this chapter. I've been building up to this for a while. I will warn you there is swearing in this one.
Travis was doing well. He contently ate his food as everyone else talked. He figured if he started or entered a conversation with Elizabeth or Zach it would only end in disaster.
"So Travis, you've been rather quiet. Being really isolated for so long must've changed you, huh?" Travis heard. He looked up from his empty plate to see it came from Elizabeth. Travis had not yet gotten his food.
"It brought back some childhood memories I guess." Travis said. Travis hoped that would be the end of that conversation but he knew deep down she'd pry until it all came out.
"Oh really?" She said. "You know we're all family here. You can tell us anything."
"I don't think its the right time and place to bring everyone down about my childhood."
"Well I'm sure your life wasn't as bad as everyone else here. Poor Aarons parents were so overprotective." Zach said.
Travis stayed silent. He knew this was just their way of trying to make him angry. He could let it get to him.
"They were just trying to keep me safe. Now I appreciate them more than ever." Aaron said.
"It must've been nice always feeling so safe." Salvanna said sweetly.
"Of course I was always safe but sometimes they were a little to harsh." Aaron brought up.
"Yeah and poor Aphmau only had a mother to love her. Though Salvanna you sure did an amazing job." Elizabeth mentioned.
Travis didnt like where this was going but he knew it was going to come up. And it did.
"Travis, what do you have to be depressed about. You had a mother. You had a father. What could you possibly have gone wrong."
Those words should be enough motive for murder.
Travis heard the voice say. He tryed to drown them out but the anger stayed.
"I'd rather not talk about this at a dinner table." Travis said glaring at Elizabeth who had said that.
"Oh? And why not...what are you hiding Travis?"
Do it. Do it now. You have a steak knife. It would be so easy.
Said the voice again.
"Shut up." Travis said under his breath.
"Oh sorry Travis. What did you say?"
"Why is it Aphmau grew up herself anyway?" Travis snapped. Two can play at this game. He didnt care about the looks he was getting from his friends.
"Oh Travis! Thats not appropriate. Its very personal."
"So is what happened to my parents, but you still drop in their names without the least bit of respect."
"What did happen to them?"
Travis took a breath.
How dare they speak like that about them. You show them Travis. If they are going to try and expose your secrets why not do the same.
"I'm tired of this." Travis said before getting up and leaving for the bathroom. He had already caused a scene. Though the only thing worse then going back would be not going back. He found the mens restroom and swiftly entered finding himself alone. Finally.
"What are you doing in here? Put them in their place!" The voice said.
"You'd like that wouldnt you?" Travis said back.
