{Aphmau's point of View}
We all stood around the book."The address looks familiar." I said looking down at the book.
Travis who had been looking strange ever since he found the book looked at me sadly and then looked at everyone with pity. What was so special about this address.
"What?" Garroth said also noticing the looks we were getting.
Travis shook his head again still looking apologetic.
"Hey, I know you guys want to help but I think some of you should stay back. I'm sure Dante and Laurence and Katelyn will be willing to help." Travis said his expression not changing. It didn't sound the same as when he was being insecure and just didn't want a bother.
"Just get to the point" Zane said.
"It's a building near the lodge. The area may cause some unwanted memories." Travis said pointing at the book. "I am very grateful you've all chosen to come with me but we are trying to put an end to all this stress and making you guys uncomfortable is the last thing I want to do. Especially since I'm sure this place triggers a lot of PTSD."
Travis was right. Of course, I want to help Travis. But...god just pictures of the place send me back to bad memories. The things I did to Aaron when under control. Ein. Everyone else looked at me awaiting my answer. I guess I got it the worst.
"I trust you, Travis. That's why I know you can do this without me. If it's really okay then I'll sit this one out. Spend some time with Aaron." I said. Travis nodded and looked at everyone else awaiting their answers.
"Why exactly is this place in the same area as the lodge?" Garroth asked.
"The memories are fuzzy but the lodge was where they did experiments with the potions. But when I was not being experimented on they wanted me out of the way. So my father...or Michael rented a lodge close by for me to live. It was meant to be for the family but father didn't spend too much time actually being my father. And my mother..." Travis stopped midsentence. Nobody asked him to continue. We just understood and moved on.
"And that lodge is where your book is? If you don't mind me asking what's so special about this book?" Zane asked trying not to sound like he's prying.
"I don't know. I just know it's going to fix everything. Again I know everything is so uncertain right now and I'll understand if you decide you don't want to be a part of this. This is a lot especially after everything else that happened." Travis said looking Zane in the eyes as he spoke before looking around the room at the rest of us.
"Well I'll stay with you," Katelyn said and grabbed Travis's hand. "I know not being by your side will just make me worry and actually being able to see you won't stress me out as much as sitting on the couch hoping my boyfriend comes back alive." Travis smiled at Katelyn.
"How about we all go home and those who want to stay back won't have to find their way home on their own. Then whoever wants to stay back will just stay back and if there is anyone who wants to come that isn't here right now can just join us then." Travis said not letting go of Katelyn's hand.
Everyone agreed and starting heading back out the way we came. We all start retracing our steps until we eventually made it back.
Once we were home I immediately went and found Aaron and told him about what happened.
"As long as you don't change your mind after they left and decide to try and go to the lodge all by yourself then that's fine. But Aph, I know you. You are going to have to ignore all this for a bit. Otherwise, it's going to drive you insane thinking about what's going to happen while you're gone." Aaron said as we cuddled on the couch.
"I know it's just what if I get so scared by just knowing where we are and end up being more inconvenient than helpful?" I said looking up at his bruised face.
"Hey, I'm sure Travis is incredibly thankful by the fact that you came to help him by going back to Starlight. I mean you died there. Travis cares about you though and doesn't want you to feel unsafe. Just knowing your on his side will be helpful. Stay with me here. I know you always want to be helpful but you need to know where to stop."
"Okay..." I said and kissed Aaron on the cheek and he gave me that soft smile he's known for.
Travis will be fine on his own.
