Alex wasn't standing there. I sigh with relief. I peak my head out to see if she is there. She isn't. I walk carefully down the stairs. I see Dad and Mom in the kitchen.

"Gregor, go help your Aunt Jessamine and Uncle Rich outside," Mom says. I nod and walk outside to see my aunt and uncle. As I walk away I hear my parents whispering about something I can't make out what they are saying.

"Gregor, dear come give me a hug," I walk up to Aunt Jessamine and embrace her, "Go set that box your uncle has inside," I go grab the box from my uncle. Then, I walk inside.

"Gregor, come here. Your Dad and I want to give you our present now," Mom says. I set down Aunt Jessamine and Uncle Rich's box on the counter.

"Okay," I say. Mom heads to her room upstairs. I follow. I walk into her room and see something on her bed. It is wrapped in cloth and held together with a twine rope. Dad walks into the room

"Open it up," He says. I carefully untie the twine rope that holds it together. I set it aside. Then, I unwrap the cloth. I see something shiny. I unwrap the rest of the cloth. In the cloth lies a sword. I pull it out. It was my sword. The sword I broke, with my bare hands. I look down at my hands, breaking the sword cause my hands to scar. Small white lines lie inside my palms. I close my hands and look at my parents. I look up.

"Where did you get this?" I say, "I broke this, How did you even fix it?"

"Vikus gave it to your mother right before she left," Dad says. He walks over and pulls a piece of paper out from a fold in the cloth, "We took it to William Wahl-Roy, the best blacksmith here in Virgina. He fixed it all up," He hands me the paper. I open it inside there is a note.

Dear Gregor,

I understand you may have not wanted the sword back due to some things. But, you should have it just in case you run into trouble. I assure you the sword will come in handy. Trust me. It has no use down here anyways. Keep it safe for me please.

Vikus

I stare at the note astonished. I broke it. I broke it to show that the warrior had died, I am not the warrior anymore, that life is behind me, blood has been shed because of this sword, I don't want it.

"Gregor are you okay?" Mom asks

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Im going to go put this in my room," I grab the cloth and the note and quickly walk out of my parents room. I take a sharp turn in my room. I set the stuff on my bed. I flop down on my bed and stare at the ceiling.

"Why, I wanted to forget about the Bane, Ares, and just everything bad that happened down there. This stupid sword," I sigh, "I should probably start packing," I get up and grab my suitcase. I open it up and put it on my bed. First I take all of my clothes and put them in there. I neatly fold all of them. Next I take down my pictures of family vacations down and the few of the Underland I have. I carefully put them in the suitcase.

"Gregor come down, please," Mom yells up the stairs

"Coming," I yell back. I walk downstairs. The wooden floor of the hallway creaking. As I go down the stairs I look at the pictures. Each memory I replay in my head. Until finally I get to the bottom.

"Gregor, come outside," I walk through the backdoor and I am instantly attacked by Boots.

"Gregor, look at Missy isn't she so pretty. I did it all by myself," You can see Missy's pen from here. She has a large yellow bow on her little patch of hair on her head.

"Oh, she's beautiful Boots," I laugh. Missy moos at me

"Gregor come here we got a going-away gift for you," Aunt Jessamine says as she hands me the box I brought in. It was a medium-sized box. Not that heavy. I grab the box and open it. Inside lies a photo album, of all the memories I have made since I left New York. I flip through the first few pages and I see alot of smiling faces, and a baby Missy.

"Thank you so, much," I go and hug my Aunt and Uncle.

"Here, Gregor," Mrs. Green says. She is holding a box. I take it from her and open it. The Secret Ingredient box lies inside. The Secret Ingredient is the best bakery around here.

" I got the cookies. Alex said you like them,"

"Thank you," I go and hug Mrs. Green and Alex.

=====

The sky turned beautiful oranges, pinks, purples, and reds as the sunset that evening. The crickets and frogs were singing as the sun fell lower in the sky. The moon rising opposite of the sun was full. The breeze was calm. Carrying the autumn leaves with it.

"Mom, I'm going to go pack the rest of my stuff now and go to bed" I whisper

"Okay, sweetie, night," she says. I turn around and head inside. I go upstairs to my room. I look at the plain gray walls. I take off my shirt and change into a plain short sleeve. I pack up the rest of my things and put my suitcase and 2 boxes by the door. I go sit on my bed and pull the covers over me. Then I drift into a dreamless sleep.
