Part 9 - Surrender to You

FENGJIU'S POV:

I really thought that there was a real connection between me and Boss at Chang's party. But as soon as Ji Heng appears, everything gets ruined and she claims the spotlight. What she said really bothered me... will I just a rebound? a distraction? her replacement only?

I can't figure out what Boss is thinking. He can be so hot and cold... I just wished I knew how he felt or where I stand. Am I just kidding myself? 

Later in the week, Chang asked me whether something was happening between me and Boss. My feelings for him must have been quite obvious for her to ask me about it... I answered her honestly, "Nothing..." but I'd like to see if something could... 

Chang told me she was going to meet her brother Yang for lunch and persuaded me to join them so that I could ask him for some advice on Boss from a guy's perspective so I agreed... 

Boss's lunch delivery came, I dropped it into his office and told him I have a lunch date and will not be joining him today.

Chang told me to go first and to get a table down at the red cafe and she will join us soon. Yang was already there when I arrived. He is around 5ft 10, slim, friendly and wears big professor glasses. He was as welcoming as when we first met. We ordered drinks and made small talk whilst waiting for Chang but 10 minutes passed by and still no sign of her. I called and she whispered that Boss is suddenly in a very bad mood and ordered the Macau project to be brought forward and to be finalised by the end of the week - that only gives us a day and a half to prepare! 

I quickly ordered take out for me and Chang and apologised to Yang. He seemed disappointed having to cut the lunch short and we agreed to do another lunch soon. 

When I got back to the office, Boss was standing over Chang dictating an urgent letter. He lowered his gaze at me as I walked in...uhoh... 

Dijun irritated:

"What's that in your hand?"

Fengjiu:

"Mine and Chang's lunch. Are you still hungry?"

Dijun:

"Oh I thought you had lunch date today?"

 Fengjiu:

"Yes -  it was with Chang and her brother. We were waiting for Chang so I decided to come back with take out."

Boss finished dictating and went back into his office for the rest of the afternoon. 

He was acting strange today... perhaps he is under pressure with work.

DIJUN'S POV:

My feelings for Jiu'er is still as strong as ever and I nearly lost control at Chang's party so I have been trying to keep my distance from her for the last few days. 

My morning was going relatively good until Jiu'er told me she had a lunch date. With who? Who does she know in the mortal modern realm? She needs to be careful, from my research, men in this era do not have much propriety. This are different here, more open. Why would she cancel lunch with me for someone else. Who could it be? Someone she likes?
