" Layla! Wake up." Dave says. I sit up and look around. "We here."

"Where is here?"

"Rhode Island. My moms lives here." He says. "I put her over here so she'd be safe."

"Oh ok." I say getting out. He pops the trunk and pulls my bags out as I walk towards the hotel. It's almost 5 in the morning so I'm guessing he ain't wanna bang on his momma door at this time of day.

"Can you go check in? Just use East." He says. I walk in and greet the woman at the front desk.

"Hi, I believe we have a reservation."

"Okay and what is that under?"

"Uh East." I say looking back at him.

"Oh perfect! This must be a late night adventure, huh? Just you and the mister?" She asks.

"Something like that." I say carefully watching Dave. "Hey, what's the address for this place? Gotta give the grandparents an emergency address, ya know." I say trying to match her oddly perky attitude for the time of day.

"Oh! Of course. Well in the hotel room there's and television guide with it on there but you can take-this as well." She says pausing to grab a pamphlet.

"Thank you!" I say grabbing the room key. Dave finally finished grabbing my bags and we got on the elevator.

"You feel any better now?" He says referring to my attitude.

"I been cool. You?"

"Never betta." He says. I look straight ahead as the numbers on the elevator climbs. It's awkwardly silent until he pulls me towards him and spins me so I'm facing him. I stare at him before he kisses me passionately as he grabs my ass and hips.

"You lose ya attitude yet?" He says pulling away.

"I told you I been cool." I say as the elevator dings I walk off and follow the numbered rooms until I get to ours and Dave is right behind me as I unlock the door. When I walk in I kick my shoes off and realize there's one bed and a couch bed.

"I can take the couch." He says before I can even address it. I smile to myself.

"Thanks."

"Fuck." I say. It's almost 7 o'clock and Amani hasn't answered one phone call. She must've fallen asleep but I need to get out of here now. I had thought of someone to pick me up but I know it's gonna be awkward. I have to though...

"Demetrius?"

"Layla?!" He says out of breath. I know by this time in the morning he's at the gym. Demetrius was a rocky situation-ship that I was way too embarrassed to call a real relationship. I was ashamed because I let him go. And I knew he was the best I would get in a while but I couldn't ruin his life with mine. So we cut ties.

 So we cut ties
