It was late afternoon, Rey was practicing hits with her staff while Mae worked with her lightsaber. How was she ever lucky to deserve a white lightsaber. They were unique and rare to come past but she had it since she was found by Luke Skywalker. Rey got out her lightsaber as started to train with hits and moves. Mae watched her then noticed Luke was too. Rey cut the rock making it fall. Rey then watched Luke leave the area. "Will he actually train me?" Rey asked. "He's trying to prove Jedi's don't need to be a thing... Your job is to prove him wrong." Mae said before leaving. She needed to check if Chewbacca got a signal out to the Resistance checking how they are doing.

"Lesson Two. Now that they're extinct, the Jedi are romanticized, defied. But if you strip away the myth and look at their deeds, the legacy of the Jedi is failure. Hypocrisy, hubris." Luke said continuing with teaching Rey. "That's not true" Rey said looking at him then stormed to him. "At the height of their powers, they allowed Darth Sidious to rise, create the Empire, and wipe them out. It was a Jedi Master who was responsible for the training and creation of Darth Vader." Luke said. "And a Jedi who saved him. Yes, the most hated man in the galaxy. But you saw that there was conflict inside him. You believed that he wasn't gone. That he could be turned." Rey said trying to talk him into it. She sat down during her little speech. "And I became a legend. For many years, there was balance.... and then I saw Ben. My nephew with that mighty Skywalker blood. And in my hubris, I thought I could train him, I could pass on my strengths. Han was Han about it, but Leia trusted me with her son. I took him, and a dozen students including Mae, and began a training temple. By the time I realized I was no match for the darkness rising in him, it was too late..." Luke stated remembering the story. "What happened?" Rey asked which Mae walked in the conservation. "I went to confront him. And he turned on me." Luke said remembering the past. He stood up and faced towards the walls.

It was late at night and Luke went to Ben's hut. He had his arms out begging Ben but Ben didn't listen. "Ben, no!" Past Luke yelled to Ben as the building came down on him with the force.  "He must have thought I was dead. When I came to, the temple was burning. He had vanished with a handful of my students. And slaughtered the rest. Mae was passed out with many wounds... Leia blamed Snoke, but it was me. I failed. Because I was Luke Skywalker. Jedi master. A legend." Luke said. Mae crossed her arms. "It's not your fault.. It's Snoke's for trying to tell him what he wanted." Mae said. "The galaxy may need a legend. I need someone to show me my place in all this. And you didn't fail Kylo. Kylo failed you. I won't." Rey said looking at Mae as she watched. They stare at each other before Luke looks down slightly with a slight smile. "She won't give up.." She stated. Luke nodded and looked at Rey. Mae decided to walk around the small island as it looked pretty interesting.

Mae followed behind Luke as he went to his usual training area

Mae followed behind Luke as he went to his usual training area. He touched the rock and focused. Mae smiled knowing exactly what he was doing. She put her hand on his shoulder and focused. A few moments past and Luke mumbles "Leia.." Mae smiled softly looking at him. She sighed and turned feeling that feeling she always does. "I'd rather not do this now." Mae said then Luke looks at her weirdly. "Yeah, me too." She hears Kylo say. "Why did you hate Han? Do you have something, a cowl or something you can put on? Why did you hate your father? Give me an honest answer. You had a father who loved you, he gave a damn about you." Mae said as she walked over to the stairs. "I didn't hate him." He said sadly but she didn't know if she should listen. "Then why...?" She asked wanting an answer to her question. "Why, what? Why, what? Say it." He asked but only she could hear him reply.

"Why did you... Why did you kill him? I don't understand..." Mae said trying to ignore the feeling he did it to prove himself. "No? Your parents threw you away like garbage." Ren said trying not to mean it. "They didn't!" Mae yelled as tears started to form. "They did. But you can't stop needing them. It's your greatest weakness... Aside from me being your weakness. Looking for them everywhere.... in Han Solo.... now in Skywalker. Did he tell you what happened that night?" Kylo asked. She knew the story but which side was correct. "No. He had sensed my power, as he senses yours. And he feared it." Kylo said which made her glance at Luke. "Liar... You are just lying." She tried to tell herself. "Let the past die. Kill it if you have to. That's the only way to become what you were meant to be... To become a sith." Ren said looking at her. "No!" She yelled blocking her mind from him. "Rey? Mae..." Luke said. She let him back in and saw he was shirtless. She blushed then looked away. He smirked a bit then watched her. "Stop!" He yelled towards the two looking at each other touching hands. "It is true? Did you try to murder him?" Mae asked trying to get the story... The correct one.  "Leave this island now!" Luke demanded.  "Stop. Stop! Did you do it? Did you create Kylo Ren? Tell me the truth." Rey asked wanting the answers too. "I saw darkness. I'd sensed it building in him. I'd see it at moments during his training... Yet, whenever Mae was around, the darkness would disappear and turn him back to the Ben we all knew... I looked inside... and it was beyond what I ever imagined. Snoke had already turned his heart. He would bring destruction, and pain, and death... and the end of everything I love because of what he will become. And for the briefest moment of pure instinct... I thought I could stop it. It passed like a fleeting shadow. And I was left with shame... and with consequence. And the last thing I saw... were the eyes of a frightened boy whose master had failed him." Luke told the story of that night.

"You failed him by thinking his choice was made.. It wasn't." Mae said honestly. "There is still conflict in him If he turned from the dark side, that could shift the tide. This could be how we win." Rey jumped in. "This is not going to go the way you think." Luke said looking at Mae.  "It will." Rey said looking at Mae.  "Just now, when we touched hands... I saw his future. As solid as I'm seeing you. If I go to him, Ben Solo will turn... He will turn back to the Ben we loved." Mae said looking at him hopefully. "... Don't do this." Luke begged her. "Then he is our last hope." Rey said shrugging... "That he is..." Mae whispered.
