Kabanata 30

Waking up with a heavy heart is exasperating. Snapping my eyes opened, awful visions flooded my memories. Napakurap ako ng mata nang maalala ang nangyari kagabi.

I tasted bitterness in my mouth, remembering Corey's explanation last night.

The amount of evidence he has is enough to prove his accusation.

Napalunok ako nang mapabiling si Corey sa kama. Facing me, he is still asleep beside me. Inunan niya ang braso. My eyes flitted over his sleeping features. He looked peaceful but suddenly, he scowled maybe because of a bad dream. Umangat ang labi 'ko panandali ngunit mabilis 'kong tinigil. 

I didn't deserve it.

Ang ilang piraso nang medyo kulot na buhok ay nasa noo na. Napansin 'ko ang maliit na hoop earring sa kanyang tainga. Pigil na pigil lamang ang kamay 'ko sa paghaplos sa kanyang pisngi.

I truly miss him.

But touching him seems to be forbidden. I can't help but get guilty because of doubting him. Ilang linggong hindi 'ko siya pinansin. I ignored him to explain his side. Siya ang sinisi 'ko sa lahat. Nagpadala ako sa bintang ng iba.

My mind is screaming so loud and raw to me. You didn't deserve someone like him.

Siguro nga.

I don't deserve someone like Corey Cromwell. But is he going to believe it if sabihin 'ko sa kanya ito? I doubt about it. Corey is hard-headed. And he loves too much. He's too persistent. Corey put a lot of effort I haven't seen and felt to anyone.

He is so good to me.

Ang kagabing pangyayari ay tila isang bangungot. Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala sa sinabi niya sa akin. Malaking parte nang pag-uusap namin na ang tanging ginawa 'ko lamang ay mag-disagree sa kanya. The phrase of why would June do it? She's my friend. She would never back stabbed me. She's almost a family to me...that's why she won't do it.

Hinding-hindi magagawa ni June iyon sa akin.

But when Corey laid out everything in my hands.

The proof.

The evidence.

The truth.

My heart broke into pieces.

It is not just June. Kasama si Joey, ang ex-girlfriend niya.

June did almost the dirty work because of her extreme love to Joey. People do worse things because of extreme emotion. Ani Corey, after Joey's solo career pummeling to the top. Naghabol daw ito sa kanya. She told Corey that she still can't move on from him. But Corey already moved on and didn't have any more feelings to her. Mapilit lang si Joey na gusto na niyang makibalikan pero ayaw na ni Corey. Nang hindi na niya pansinin ito ay gumawa siya ng paraan. She became out of control because of her tremendous affection that became an obsession.

In an unexpected visit of Joey to his condo, narinig niya ang pag-uusap ni Corey at ni Henrik, ang nakakatandang kapatid. Corey in that time was still thinking of revenge for my mother. Tutol ang kapatid niya kaya galit na galit siya noong araw na 'yon. He was drunk and enraged.
