We walked further away from the chaotic house. We didn't say a word for the past fifteen minutes while the cold air buried its fingers upon my skin while the new information I was now carrying anchored heavily on my back as I tried to drag it along with me. It felt too heavy. At that moment, I wished I could open up about every single thought that was going through my head to anyone. Even the guy walking alongside me.
But who can I trust. Michael seemed so easy going, so trustworthy... but is he? Then there were my parents, both who hid my sister's existence from me. Or the fact my birth parents were probably murdered by vampires.
With each step I took, the anchor weighed me further down. I stopped walking and rested my back against a tree, realizing we had walked out of the residential area and ended up along the main road that divided the woods.
"We should probably get back now. Do you want me to walk you home?" He placed a hand on my shivering shoulder, realizing how cold I was, something he surely didn't notice. It was probably due to the fact that he was a werewolf. Maybe they can't get cold in the middle of the night.
Honk! Honk!
A black car stopped at the side of the road, next to us, switching off its engine.
"Oh, good. You're already here." Macey walked out of the car and opened the back.
"What's wrong?" I asked, walking to her. "Here." She tossed a silver revolver to me, almost dropping it to the floor.
"We might need your help as well." She looked at him, handing over black gloves.
"What do you mean? What's going on?" Michael put the gloves on, strapping the velcro as tight as possible around his arm.
She closed the boot and locked the car, throwing her rifle back, its strap across her chest, and placing another handgun under her pants' waist belt. "A few days ago Jason went missing while on a mission, and we have just located his whereabouts."
"And it's here?" Michael said slowly looking into the woods. The further his eyes looked into the distance, the darkness engulfed the trees. "And why is Candle getting involved?"
"She's a member of our -"
"Not that kind of member. You're putting her in danger. What if you get her killed? What are you gonna do then?" Michael barked, his eyes fueling with golden rage. Perhaps his argument was true. Perhaps it was too dangerous for me to get involved, but then again, how am I going to find exactly what happened to Meg. If putting myself in danger was the only way I would get some answer, then I might as well go along with Macey's plan.
"Erm... but I want to help." It was only a second after those words came out of my mouth that I immediately regretted ever speaking.
BOOOOM!!
We all looked into the woods, having just heard a shot being fired. We rushed down the steep hill, jumping over tree roots until we got to the swamp, where there was an old abandoned house and some teens were arguing. One of them holding down a boy to the ground waving a gun around. His words were barely audible among the laughter of the other teens.
Then I felt something on my shoulder, immediately turning around ready to fire my gun. The gun suddenly meeting a surface, Brody's tan forehead. He put his finger against his lips in panic, noticing my alarmed expression.
"What are you doing?" I asked with a hushed voice, but he only smiled at me and waved at the others, then from behind him, popped two new faces, siblings perhaps as the girl's face was almost identical to the boy crouched in front of her, waving at us.
"We're all here then. Michael and Candle are here as well." Brody pressed the ear piece when he started talking. He waited a bit to hear out what the person on the other line was saying, who might as well have been Rory.
"Ok, got it. Candle, you stick with Macey. Try to get a clear shot of the front door. Mike, you're with Kyle. You guys get ready to infiltrate the house once me and Viv create a distraction." He stopped talking once he noticed the girl's gleaming eyes, looking happily at him. "Understood?"
"Yes." We all replied, keeping our voices low.
We all headed to our given location, I followed closely behind Macey's steps, with the gun ready in hand. We had already lost sight of the others as we climbed up the hill, trying to get the perfect view for the perfect shot for when the time comes. As Macey reached for the higher part of the tree to climb up a steep bit of the hill, she turned her head to me, jumping off from where she stood. She began turning around in panic, trying to depict what she had heard. Then I heard the crackling of tree branches and dried leaves as well. My heart began racing as I began to search for a figure somewhere around us. Maybe behind the trees, or crouched down behind the bushes. But there was no one.
We stood back to back until I didn't feel her anymore. I turned around, suddenly meeting the same man with dark black eyes and the palest of skins. He must be one of them. I couldn't breathe properly as I stumbled back.
I finally aimed the gun at him, my hands shaking uncontrollably. His lips stretched into a smile, showing off his white sharp fangs.
BANG!
I shot the gun, but it was futile. Even though I had pierced him with my bullet in the chest, rage sparked in his eyes and with one slap across my face, I had suddenly blacked out.

Thank you for reading Chained to Me.
I know I hadn't posted in a while... but I was stuck. I didn't know how to continue this bit. Words couldn't come to mind. So I hope you enjoyed what I had come up with.
More interesting parts are to come in the next chapter.
