Why do they keep mentioning her? Sure, they must know her, but I do not. Nor did my family ever mention her. Who is she? And why didn't I know of Meg sooner?

I grabbed the piece of tissue from his hands and wrapped it around mine as fast as I could. I had suddenly grown frustrated. Too many things happened today. It was supposed to be another ordinary day, with the addition of parents obviously lecturing me about my grades, even thou I did improve a lot, but still, I had grown accustomed to it.

I headed for the door, about to turn the knob. "Can we talk somewhere else?" I sighed, trying to calm down.

"About what?"

"I have some questions that need to be answered. And I'm guessing you're the only person who would actually answer me... for some reason." Yep. For some reason, I have this feeling he won't be beating around the bush like the others did.

I opened the door and headed downstairs then out the front door with my head buried, trying not to be stopped by anyone, and he followed. We walked side by side on the pavement away from the chaotic house.

"So what's your first question?" He asked with a smile, his hands buried in his pockets looking up at the night sky.

"Who's Meg?" I immediately replied. He stopped in his tracks, looking dumbfounded at me. "You don't know?!?" His eyes widened.

"That's why I'm asking." I narrowed my eyes.

"Well, I'm guessing you already know she's your sister..."

"Yes, I got that far." I replied chuckling.

"For starters, she had the same ability as you. She could see everyone's true nature, including the spirits. And she was one of the best investigators this town had ever seen. I guess she had the most closed cases."

"So, Meg's with the police?" I asked... how old is she anyway?

"No. Not with them. With Berxley."

"Berxley?" If only she still works there, we could've met, "I'm guessing she's not with Berxley anymore."

"No, she got caught up in her... your parents' case and hasn't been seen since. She was declared dead four years ago." I couldn't understand. I just learned about her... and she's dead? Wait. She can't be dead. She's just not here.

"So... if she hasn't been seen, she can be still alive." I smiled, some hope filling my eyes, but his sad eyes didn't budge. He pitied me.

"Your parents' case involves vampires. The last time we saw her, she had gone to their hideout. So, I don't think it's possible she's still..." He couldn't say it for the second time. Hearing it again would be like a second bullet being shot from behind. It was difficult to swallow what I had just learnt, even thou I didn't know her, she was still family. My sister on top of that. And I didn't get the chance to know her nor to meet her.

But I will find out what happened to her. Or who killed her. I don't care if it's a vampire. I WILL find out.

Thank you for reading Chained to Me.

I know it's a bit short but still... I hope you found this chapter interesting...

And who knows what Michael's motive is for telling her all that 😉
