4: Yellow Eyes

Over the past few years I had managed to control my sight, actually to ignore what I saw, but that led to my body moving on its own, right when the shadow revealed its face for the first time. Now, I can't ignore them anymore. They're everywhere, and on top of that, I can't control my body when I get too close to one.

At least that's what I think. Until now, whenever my control was affected, I was only a few meters away from the ghost. I wasn't affected when I saw them from the office yesterday. I sighed, sitting down on a bench.

I had already arrived at the new school, got my schedule and have been waiting in the school garden for the past thirty minutes. I arrived too early, but it was better that way, I didn't want to be late if something had happened with the schedule, or if I bumped into another ghost. Fortunately, I found none on the way. They might just all be sleeping like the rest of the town.

I sat and enjoyed the small window I had of the sun. This ton attracted a lot of clouds and mist, a perfect place for the dead to gather. It was like being in an old horror film, where the footage is black and white, and everywhere I go there are these terrifying faces jumping to scare me.

After a while I began to hear footsteps and muttering, students were slowly flooding the halls that surrounded the garden. Then I saw the red headed girl entering the front corridor. She was the shortest among her friends, but she was the one who stood out the most. She had pulled her hair up in a ponytail, but it still reached her chest. On top of that, she was wearing a short white knee-high lace dress. She talked and loved together with two guys and an extremely tall blonde girl that was taller than one of the boys.

Then she saw me, and immediately rushed to sit next to me. "How are you?" She smiled, her blue eyes gleaming. "I'm fine." She nodded while holding her smile, noticing the schedule in my hands. "Who do you have first?" She pointed before waving to her friends to come next to us.

"Mr Faux of Physics." I said before they had arrived.

"Ugh, you're not with me." She whined, then she turned to her friend. "Ash, you're with Candle for your first lesson." The blonde girl waved at me. "Sure, just be prepared for some questions about light, he tends to always start with a small pop quiz about our current chapter." I nodded. I'm doomed. I didn't study anything about light. I thought I studied everything, but I was wrong.

"But you have to believe me. That bitch has it out for me." We all turned to the sudden yelling from the bench behind us. The tree that separated us from the noisy group also covered some of their faces, but unfortunately it didn't block the noise.

I could see some of the loud guy's features, having tanned skin and wearing a bright coloured hoodie. He was speaking to three other teens, two of which were clearly females.

"Isn't that Marcus?" Penny turned to Ash, giving her a confused look. Ash nodded, trying to listen in to what they were talking about.

"You saw what she did." Marcus continued, pointing at his bruised cheek.

"Yes. I saw. I was there." Another guy spoke, his voice low and deep, but I couldn't see how he looked like. His back was facing us, but I could still see his manly physique, and his short hair, growing lengthier as it reached the top of his head with a gradual fade.

"But I wasn't. So, what did Ashley do this time? Or better yet, what did you do to provoke her?" One of the girl's jumped in.

We all turned to look at Ash, but she shooshed us, trying to listen in on them. "I didn't provoke her. I was about to win the tournament, but she distracted me!" His voice got higher at the last bit. He cleared his throat then continued. "After she was done, it was my turn to show my awesome moves. So the crowd cheered as I got to the edge of the ramp –"

"No one cheered." The deep voice guy interrupted. "They did. Anyway, I turned to the crowd to wave at them, and then I saw HER." Marcus stopped.

"And?" The girl said again.

"She pulled her top up." He said covering his face with one hand as it turned red.

We all turned to Ash again. "You pulled up your top!" Penny shouted. Her voice was too loud that Marcus and his group saw us. We all exchanged looks, then he turned around looking directly at me. His eyes were of the clearest of blues, with sharp features. He could easily be on a magazine's front cover.

Then his eyes flashed yellow.
