The next morning Drew woke up before Clara, he rolled over and watched her sleep for a few minutes loving how peaceful she was. He decided this would be a good time to go for a run, he wouldn't be gone for long. Jumping out of bed, he threw on some shorts and a top and wrote a quick note to let her know where he was in case she woke up while he was out before heading down the stairs and out the house. On his way out he made sure to lock the front door, normally he wouldn't bother when he was only going out for a short while, but he didn't want to risk it with her being home alone and in heat.
The house was surrounded by a forest, he loved the peace and quiet out here. As he began his usual root around the wooded area, he listened to the birds singing from above. The crunch of autumn leaves under his reminded him of being little and coming out to the woods with his sister when they first learnt how to change. They'd come out and have races in their wolf forms, he always let her win, so she wasn't in a grump for the rest of the day being a sore loser. Their Mother would scold them both when they got back covered in mud, but they just used to giggle and blame each other. The woods were his happy place, where he could relax and be whoever he wanted, whether that be himself or his wolf.
Drew knew that he would have to talk to Clara about the whole Alpha, Luna thing today so he spent his run trying to work out how to explain things to her without panicking her. He knew his sister did not want the role and he'd dreamed about being Alpha since he was a little boy. But if Clara really didn't want to do it, then he'd give it up for her, he would pass the role onto his sister whether she was happy about it or not. She didn't have anything to worry about for the time being though, Drew had to claim her before he could take his role as Alpha. Until he did, his Father remained in control. Then came the next problem, resisting the urge to claim her. He'd spoken to his Father last night, and he agreed to allow Drew a few more days off his duties to help Clara understand the pack and her role, which was great but being around her so much was driving him crazy with temptation. Even just thinking about the pleasure he could feel through their bond when she reached her climax last night began to get him excited. No woman had ever got him hooked like she had. The way he could feel her wasn't anything like he'd expected, he'd been told about how you can sense your mate's emotions, but it was as if he felt how she did when she did. He stopped to catching his breath and leant on a tree next to him. He was about halfway round his route and could feel his wolf itching to come out and have a turn.
Not today, I can't be long, tomorrow I promise. He pleaded with his inner creature, he didn't want to be gone too long and when he was his wolf form, he tended to get carried away a lose track of time. He began to head back to the house, hoping Clara was awake when he got back. When he was only a few minutes away from the house he could hear a banging in the distance, so he quickened his pace to make sure everything was ok at the house. Through the trees he could see someone stood outside the front door, before he could see who it was, he could smell them.
"Jason!" He called out as he came through the trees.
"Hey, sorry I was just out for a run." His best friend Jason turned from the door and smiled as Drew approached."Hey man, no worries. I was just heading up to the pack house and thought I'd pop by and say hi. How's it going?" Jason was a tall blonde guy, muscular physique, and dark brown eyes.
"Yeah, I'm good thanks. How are you?" Drew stood panting, with a smile on his face. The two of them had been best friends since they were little, and it was weird not seeing him for a few days.
"Yeah things are good man, how's it going with your mate? I could smell her a mile off, you not claimed her yet?" Drew tried to hide the worry on his face, if he could smell her that far away then he wasn't sure how long he could leave it until he claimed her. It would only get worse, and he didn't want to leave her alone all day in a town full of wolves while he was out at work.
