Harry's P.O.V (Wednesday)
I barely even remember leaving potions, it was all a blurry mess of memories, images, and my fast-paced heart rate. Before I know it Malfoy and I all of a sudden end up in the library. I look around confused, at first I don't understand why I am confused and just dart my eyes all around the room in a blind panic trying to form a coherent thought, before it hits me that that I am not sure why I am in the library. Malfoy and I have never been in here before. Gathering all the brain cells I have left in an effort to speak normal words, I turn to Malfoy and ask
"Wait, what are we doing here?"
He turns to face me in response before saying
"Oh, yea sorry I probably should have explained. I was wondering if we could do our homework in here today? Something tells me the homework we got today will require more note-taking than what was provided in class."
By a sheer miracle of Merlin I am able to comprehend the words he is saying and nod quickly before remarking
"Oh yeah that sounds like a good idea"
Malfoy smirks before responding sarcastically
"Of course its a good idea, I am the one who came up with it"
This comment sobers me up a bit from my swirling thoughts. Normally I would have gotten angry at a comment like this, but the playful tone in his voice and the smile on his face let me know he's only kidding around. I chuckle and roll my eyes before responding with the same playful manner
"Merlin Malfoy, you really are an arrogant sod"
He laughs in response and I take the moment to study him. His hair is messily spread over his eyes and one of his shaved sides. His eyes close as his hand hovers over his mouth, laughing, loosely shielding his smile from the world around him. The light from the stained glass windows and the hundreds of rows of old books gives my view of him an almost picturesque vibe, its perfect. He looks perfect. In a flash my heart-rate jumps through the roof and my face burns like the fireplace beside me. He finishes laughing, but his smile doesn't fade. As he looks over to me, I can see his eyebrows furrow
"You alright?" he inquires.
"Oh! Yes, fine," I respond, "The fireplace is a bit hot, that's all"
What the hell kind of an excuse is that?? God I am such an idiot.
I can tell he doesn't believe me but he doesn't push it.
"Well, how about we take a seat away from the fireplace then. I see a good spot over by the restricted section. Maybe we can take a sneak peak before we go."
His tone is joking but the mischief in his eyes tell me he may actually consider it. I give him a "oh is that so?" face and he responds in a laughing tone
"Oh I am just joking you sod, come on"
He pulls me over to the table and we sit down to get to work. We both agree we would come back here after dinner if we didn't finish our work by then. Malfoy was focused, as always, chipping away at his assignments without distraction, but I couldn't do that. I was too focused on today and all the things I have felt. At first I didn't even want to think about it, but I had to face the possibility. Do I like Malfoy? Like, like-like him? My heart jumped at the thought, which did nothing to help crush my suspicions. What the hell am I going to do?? Of course he doesn't like me like that! Plus there is Ginny, what am I going to do about her?! My head hurt from all the speculating and before I knew it I collapsed my head down in my arms on the table in front of me.
"Not getting along with the homework are we?"
The voice came from beside me, Malfoy.
"No we are not," I laugh with my head still buried in my arms.
That's not the real reason I'm stressed, but he doesn't need to know that. There was a couple seconds of silence between us before I found myself speaking subconsciously on a topic I have been wanting to address for awhile.
"Uh, Malfoy?" I ask nervously, lifting my head from my hands.
"Yeah, whats up?" He asks, turning his head to face me
"Umm... Well considering we still have a bit to go before we become unbonded, I was wondering if we could call each other by our first names? I understand if not if your still mad about the whole incident yesterday but-"
Malfoy cut me off
"Oh please, that is in the past. Plus, I have been thinking about this too and I agree the petty last name-calling should be a thing we let go of"
He takes a minute to pause, as though he was deciding what to say next
"So what do you say Pott- Harry? Friends?"
He stuck out his hand for a handshake, and I took it. We exchanged a glance of mutual happiness and agreement. What is in the past is in the past.
"So, I am starving, what do you say we pick this up later after eating dinner?" asks Draco.
I agree fervently, my stomach growling at the thought of food. Apparently overthinking takes a lot out of you. We begin to make our way to the great hall in order to ensure out bellies are as full as my heart feels.
