Deciding to stay away from everyone, harry goes for a spot near the forest. Sitting down on the grass he feels the wind flowing by. 'Why didn't I ever go outside it's so nice' he thought. Zoning out he listens to the sweet sounds of the forest the distant chirping coming from an unknown amount of birds was so peaceful he almost fell asleep. Hearing Hagrids voice starts to pick up in tone he stands up. It had only been a few minutes since he sat down.
Walking towards the front was easy as his housemates kept moving away in a way that showed distrust and disgust. Angry he stands near the front trying to block out anyone's view, he knew it was petty yet he didn't care. He wasn't some mole rat trying to find a home in their left shoes. Hagrid was still a distant voice even though he was a few feet away, he already knew what the animal was due to reading ahead.
As the animal was dragged out by hagrid and a couple of helpers he realized how much trouble this beast was going to be. Knowing Hagrid was going to chose him as an example he sighed. It was a wyvern how they got it on a school campus still confused him. They are known to be extremely destructive and picky about riders if they don't think you qualify they will buck up and throw you off.
"Now that we have that all settled, would anyone want to volunteer?"
Silence ensued.
"Well since no one wanted to volunteer, could I get Mr. Potter to come up and demonstrate?"
'Of course, it's me'
Walking to the wyvern he remembered to bow accordingly while slowly raising up avoiding all eye contact as much as possible. Sticking his hand out he waits for a soft pat. Minutes later he feels a wet snout hit his hand, smiling he looks up and see's the wyvern as close as possible. Surprised he jumps back, the wyvern lets out a soft toot.
"Well aren't you a lovely little fellow,"
A huff shortly followed.
"Am I allowed to ride beautiful ?"
A nod follows.
"I knew you guys were smart but not this much," he says offhandedly
The wyvern head butts Harry's leg.
"Alright, alright I get it jeez,"
Slipping onto the saddle the wyvern had, he tried to gently hop on. Sitting on the back of a wyvern was a weird experience, it was scaley yet not it felt nice.
"What's her name?" Harry asks.
"Alquaria, wait how did you know she was a her!?" Hagrid says in shock.
"When I said little I meant in size comparison, wyverns typically are seen as a bit bigger yet all that have been seen are males. So by reasonable deduction, it must've been a girl."
"What do you mean reasonable deduction?" a student yelled out.
"Reptilian males are almost always bigger than women ones, therefore she's a she."
When Harry was little he had always loved to read about reptiles, whenever he was able to get out of the house he would rush to the library picking up any bock with the work reptile on it. One of the only things he still loved to this day, that hadn't been ruined by his relatives.
Alquaria decides that they were taking too long and bucks up getting ready for flight. Realizing this he grabs ahold of her as tight as possible trying his hardest to not fall off. With a huge flap of her wings, they were in the air. It felt like being on a broom he decided.
As Alquaria kept getting higher and higher harry started to adjust himself, he knew once they broke the borders between the sky and clouds it would become freezing. Bunding himself up as tight as possible he leans forward hiding his head behind the wyvern's head.
As they broke the surface of clouds Alquaria comes to a stop no longer going up, Harry straightens up to see the beautiful sight of the sun hitting the clouds like fluffy marshmallows. Gasping he breaks out into a full-blown smile, this would become one of his most cherished memories.
"Woah, girl you sure know how to fly,"
A soft huff was heard.
"You ready to head back down?"
A nod followed.
"Well, what are you waiting for let's go!"
A hissing sound was heard as they starting to fly down at a speed equivalent to a fighter jet. Laughing Harry leaned back and threw his hands up screaming. They were fastly approaching the ground, putting his hands back on her saddle preparing for impact.
A rough sound of large force hitting the hard dirt was heard.
Harry slowly leaned off of Alquaria with a breathtaking smile. It was almost like a dream to him, so high up in the air without worries.
"How was the flight, Harry?"
"It was amazing," turning to Alquaria he bends down and starts to softly scratch the web between her wings. "Thank you for the flight girl," A soft pat to his hand answered.
Walking away from her was one of the hardest things to do as she kept whining wanting her rider back.
"She really likes you," Hagrid spoke.
"Apparently,"
The rest of the day could not beat what had just happened, all he could think of all day was about the flight. No longer paying attention to anything he would always be staring out into space. Usually having to be snapped out of it.
Dinner came by and went as he ate at the kitchens again, disregarding Snape's warning. Walking to the astronomy tower he wished to stare at the sky he had been in only hours before. Quickly heading up the stone stairs to be together with what he felt like was his calling, he rushes towards the window jumping onto the top of the roof. Settling down he checks and makes sure that his satchel wouldn't be noticed from the window. Taking out what seemed to be an empty book he started to draw, while he wasn't the best. He was drawing the wyvern cuddled up against a tree.
Going for hours he kept adding more and more details, and after what seemed to be minutes he finished an almost realistic drawing of the wyvern. He had been using his wand as light seeing as it had gotten dark fast. Happy with the turnout he closes the book to put it back in his satchel to only hear someone screaming at him. He accidentally drops his satchel, landing on the person's head.
It was so dark he couldn't disconcert the person's features but the voice, no one else had that voice.
He just dropped his satchel on Professor Snape's head.
