It was quite around camp. We didn’t have much to do. Our enemies have gone into hiding. The camp a few miles down and on the other side of the small mountains were under attack a few days ago. Things have quieted down but we still get radio calls from them saying that they are still getting attacked. We sent in one fourth of our troops in to help them and the camp on the other side of us sent half of their troops. Their camp is smaller than ours so in the end we both sent about 35 troops.
We are at Camp Phoenix, one of the bigger Camps on this side on Afghanistan. Actually, second biggest, only to our neighbor who are under attack, Camp Leatherneck. If anyone has to fly out from anywhere, it’s there. There about two Hours away from here, because of how slow we have to travel on these roads. We are the part of a group called the rescue squad. It consists on me and 5 other guys who rescue other members of the US army mostly using helicopters. This is one of the quitter parts of Afghanistan so we haven't been doing many rescues.
There are 138 of us here at Camp Phoenix. We just got a new team and a new man, who joined out squad. I have been here 3 months and have 9 more to go. Everyone on our team does. We come together and we leave together, even our new guy. I don’t know why we got him.
We haven really done much lately. It’s been quite.... that till today... We are now on a mission like no other... Something I never thought I would have to do... Rescue a 14 year old girl Kidnaped by the Taliban.
