Katara Sokka and Toph steal some fire nation clothes off a clothes line and begin to walk around a small fire nation town. Katara stops when she sees a wanted poster.
WANTED ALIVE FOR TREASON
PRINCESS RAI"Sokka!" She hisses. Sokka turns and his eyes widen when he sees the drawing of Rai.
They continue through the town and stop in a weapons store. Sokka picks up a sword remembering what Rai said about her sword master. He smiles remembering their duel.
"You've got a fine eye" Sokka turns. "That's a Piando original" the man says. "Piando?" Sokka says. "A master swordsman taught prince Zuko and Lu Ten back in the day...a one man army." Sokka's eyes widen slightly. "Does he accept students?" "Rarely."
"But it is worth a try if you ask me." The man says looking at Sokka. Sokka pays for the swords gets directions to the masters house. Toph says "you got a sword?" Sokka nods and says "I've found our one man army." "Really that was fast." Katara says.
Sokka shrugs and they continue through the town until they hear a horn. They duck back into an alley and Sokka watches the prince walk along he's wearing a cloak and he turns to the guard. "Do you really have to do that?" "Your farther insists." Zuko continues walking and the people stare and try to touch him as he passes by.
"He looks terrible" Sokka mummers. "He's right where he wants to be" Katara says. "I don't know about that" Toph says as they continue towards the path.
Finally they reach the large house and Sokka says "look lion turtles." They continue to the door and Sokka knocks.
A man answers and stares at Sokka appraisingly. "I'm here to see the master" Sokka says. "What did you bring for him?" Sokka takes out the token that Rai has wrapped in the note strung on twine and he holds it out. The man's eyes widen slightly and he says "come in ...all of you"
Sokka goes in and the others follow him. He kneels down and waits. He watches as the man enters and he stands and bows to him.
He's holding the token from Rai. "Who gave you this?" "A friend." "Why have you come here?" He asks Sokka. "I...— "we're looking for our friend." Katara says. "He was taken by that girl that's wanted." Sokka's eyes widen she says "Katara!" The man stumbles back "Rai is alive?"
Sokka turns to him and he nods. "You taught her?" "She was my youngest student." "It started when she would tag along with her farther ...despite his wishes." "Of course she was only using a play wooden sword then" "where is she?" "That's what we're trying to figure out" Sokka says. "She sent us here ...she said you'd help us find her." "Perhaps I shall." "But first I believe you wanted to ask me something."
Sokka's eyes widen and he says "I...I would like to learn from you" he says finally. "And why should I teach you?" Sokka stands a bit straighter but then he deflates. "I've traveled all around the world ...met all types of people...I come from a small village and most of the warriors are at sea. So it was up to me to protect the tribe." He looks away and continues it wasn't until the Fire Prince himself arrived that I realized how unprepared I was ...how untrained. I need you to teach me not because I'm the best but because I have much to learn" "very well. I will teach you...and you shall make your own sword." "Come let us retire to the dining room where we will talk over tea."
