Rai wakes up a few days later in a sunny bedroom alone and she pushes herself up and walks over to the window and looks out.
She shivers and grabs her cloak before putting it on. There's a knock on the door and she turns going into a defensive position.
"Rai you awake? I brought you something that might cheer you up.." Rai lowers her hands slowly and she says "who is it?" Qrow.
"you may enter." She says straightening and he opens the door grinning "I'm glad you're granting me permission." Rai ignores that and goes back to sit on the bed.
Qrow pulls the table down and he says "my nieces found out that I was helping a little girl so they made you something." He opens the tin and he says "they're cookies they're really good trust me"
Rai tentatively takes one out and he says "Winter told me your farther loved these after he tried them." Rai takes a bite and her eyes widen. Then she eats one and then another and then she closes the tin. "When may I go home?"
Qrow sighs and he says "I'm sorry Rai" "you don't understand my country the entire world is at war my people my family need me."
He stands up "I do understand. But the General doesn't" "in remnant we are in a time of peace not war....so he doesn't believe you could come from a region of war."
"The fire nation waged war on the world 100 years ago when my great great great grandfather Sozin used the comet to burn the air temple to the ground massacring thousands of air benders." "Following that the fire nation hunted down every air bender they could find and killed them." "Then they hunted the water benders in the southern tribe because of an incident involving my great great grandmother."
"What happened?" Rai looks down and she says "my mother never told me details." "I knew I couldn't believe my tutors so I asked my grandfather." "What did he tell you?" "He told me a long time ago there were water benders that used their ability in the wrong way one of them was his mother and when he was fifteen years old his mother tried to kill his farther using her ability." Qrow's eyes widen.
Rai looks down. "That's why they went after the water benders" "damn." Qrow says. "So you're all still at war 100 years later?"
Rai nods "from what I understand Sozin wanted to make the entire world fire nation to share what we knew..." "but the way I see it Uncle Ozai is ...greedy." "How?" "He doesn't give he only takes...land money lives..and he spreads fear and rules by it."
Qrow nods. He stands up. "Are you certain you want to return?" Rai nods. "I have a duty to my people" Qrow nods. "I'd say I understand. But there isn't royalty here." "Get changed and I'll take you as far as I can in an airship." Rai nods and once he leaves she changes into a travelers outfit of light ivy short pants a sleeveless dark ivy tunic with light gold trim and then she drapes her purple cloak around herself and she puts up the hood. Her hand touches the fabric of a folded red and gold cloak. She puts it into her knapsack and straps it on before putting her sheaf onto her side then she folds her bow and closes up her arrow sheath.
She sits and laces her boots and touches the pennant on her neck. "Rai?" "I'm finished...enter" Rai says and Qrow opens the door and Qrow says "come on Kiddo." Rai follows Qrow out of the large building and he goes to the same airship she drove in.
"Just relax he says come sit up front with me I'm going to take you where ever you want to go." Rai nods and pulls out a map. She points to a city. "I need to go there." She points to a walled city. "Why there?" "My grandfather believes my farther died there. If he got the chance he'd go there." Qrow nods and Rai goes to the back to rest. A few hours later she looks out the window and gasps. "Kid?" "I'm ok" Rai whispers. He lands a few hours later by a beach. I've got just enough fuel to get me back. Qrow comes out as Rai surveys the area. She glances over at the blue water tribe tents. "You ok kid?" Rai doesn't answer as a few of the tribes men come over. They begin to surround her holding spears and clubs circling her closing her in. Rai tilts her head as they stare at her. Rai pushes her hip to the side her hand resting on the hilt of her sword. One of the tribes men laugh. "You're going to fight us?" He says. Qrow's eyes widen and Rai rushes at him taking the spear from his hands and pointing it at his neck. "Do not mock me." She says before snapping the spear in half and walking away. "Hey!" "Get back here!" "Hey!" Rai turns when more come over Qrow stays back knowing his large weapon won't be well received. "Stop!" Rai turns. She sees that the man that appears to be the leader is there. She can tell by his stature and the beads in his hair. "Did you break his spear?" "He mocked me." The man's eyes widen and he turns to the other man. "Is this true?" "She attacked me!" He looks back to Rai and then he turns back to the man "with what?" "She ...she .." "used her fire bending!" "She's a fire bender I can see it!" Rai's grip on the hilt becomes tighter. "I see no reason to fight" the man says. "You May have threatened her." "But Chief" he turns to the man that spoke and the man looks down.
