Soulmoon - A Remus Lupin x Reader Soulmate AU

August 18th 1976

"Happy Birthday Peter!" You were all standing in the living room, congratulating Peter on his 16th birthday. "Thanks, you guys!" Peter smiled excitedly, rushing towards the group to give you all a hug. "Okay, Wormtail," Sirius began, already holding his first beer in his right hand. "You decide, cake first or presents first?" Peter's smile widened. "You know me! I'll start with the presents please." You laughed as you followed Peter and the others towards the pile of presents on the table.

Once the presents had been opened, Peter had immediately suggested that you eat some cake and of course no one said no to that. You were now sat at the table, discussing the year to come.

"16, eh?" Sirius half-slurred. "Only a year till you get your soulmate, mate!" James chuckled at his remark before adding, "aren't you excited?" Peter sighed, still smiling. "I guess?" He spoke. "I might be a bit more jealous than excited to be honest..."

"Wait... why?" Lily exclaimed, confused. "It's just... Sirius gets his soulmark in like, three months you guys! I want mine too!" Peter whined. He wasn't looking sad or anything... more like... impatient. "Ahaha!" Sirius exclaimed. He had only drunk about four beers which weren't enough to get him drunk drunk, but you could still see the effects of the alcohol slowly taking its toll on him. "The benefits of being the older one!" Sirius did a little happy-dance which made you all laugh.

"Personally, I can feel you Peter." Remus continued the conversation with a solemn look on his face. "Why?" You asked, now focusing your attention on Remus who was sitting next to you. "Nah..." Remus replied. "Not getting into that now... Let's just say that I'm not looking forward to getting my mark..." He rubbed his neck sheepishly, before mumbling to himself, "If I even get one..." "What was that, Remus?" You asked, thinking you had heard something. "Nothing N/n..." Remus smiled at you before taking a sip of his beer, leaving you thoughtful.

"Y/n?" Lily asked, some hours into the "party". The two of you were sitting on the sofa, chatting while the boys were out on the floor playing charades. "I have to ask... How did you get your parents to leave you home alone for the day? I mean, how can they trust you when you've got James in the house?"

"Honestly?" You shrugged. "I have no idea... I mean look at them!" You turned to watch the boys. Peter and Sirius were laughing at James' awful tries to guess what Remus was acting out. To you, it looked like Remus was trying to be a unicorn, but to James, Remus obviously tried to mimic a "Chicken!.. A dinosaur! No? Well then how about a deer?" You giggled to yourself as Lily commented loudly, "Oh come on James! I would've guessed that one by now! Loser!" The two of you ended in a fit of laughter at James' stuck his tongue out at Lily.

"Then join us!" Peter laughed. You looked at Lily who nodded at you, before both of you got up to join the game.

"Okay..." Sirius mumbled. "The rules are simple... You pick a card, you mimic it. Your teammate guesses it. We'll let the girls start."

A relieved looking, out of breath Remus, sat down on the floor before punching James in the arm all while exclaiming, "You moron... it was obviously a unicorn!" Huh... You were right!

Lily gestured to you that you could pick a card, so you did.

It said 'owl'.

Easy enough. You silently began flapping your arms all while pretending to have a letter in your mouth. "Now what is that supposed to be?" James asked, a look of utter confusion spread across his features. Luckily, Lily had gotten it as she proudly exclaimed, "AN OWL! HA JAMES TAKE THAT!" She could become rather competitive at times. You laughed as you nodded, switching places with Lily. She pulled a card from the stack, gave it one glance before looking like she'd died on the inside. "How in Merlin's beard am I supposed to act out this one???" "You have to try. It's the rules!" Peter smirked, clearly hoping you'd loose this one.

Lily scrunched up her face in a weird manner, then began opening her mouth as though she was screaming. Loudly.

"Er..." You muttered. What could that be? "A baby?" Lily shook her head. "A niffler?" Once again, Lily shook her head. "Ya' know what? I give up." You lazily threw your hands in the air, as Lily exclaimed that it was supposed to be a mandrake. "Honestly Y/n, I believed in you!" She joked before sitting down again.

"I knew it was a mandrake." Remus smirked. "Oh no you did not." You interrupted, grinning.  "Prove it!" Lily added. "Your turn! Remus, act out and let's see if Peter here can guess it." Lily commented sarcastically.

"Game on." Peter said, pushing Remus towards the stack of cards. Remus stumbled across the floor, almost knocking over Sirius' beer earning him an "Oi, mate!" from the man himself, Sirius. Chuckling, Remus pulled a card from the stack and blushed as red as his Hogwarts house before reading it aloud. "Partner up with someone from the team whose turn it was before you, to mimic out the phrase blank." He was intentionally leaving out the phrase to mimic as Peter wasn't supposed to hear it.

"I am not going up there again. All yours, N/n!" Lily pushed you towards Remus. You could feel your cheeks turning a shade of pink as your eyes caught Remus' as he showed you the card.

It said 'I got hit by a whomping willow"

Giggling lightly, you started to point at yourself silently. Peter immediately exclaimed, "Girl!... Woman?" Remus shook his head. "I!" Peter finally belted out.

You nodded and gestured for Remus to do the next bit, and he quickly caught on as he made it look like he was punching you in your face. "Yeah! Go Remus!" Sirius slurred, laughing.

"I punched!" Peter guessed, but you shook your head which made Peter guess again, "I hit!" This time Remus shook his head as an excited Peter looked confused to Lily for help. She grinned and added, "I got hit!" which made you and Remus nod exaggeratedly.

"Okay..." Remus whispered. "Get close." To do the last bit, Remus pulled you close to himself making you very look very flustered. "Do like me." He added, whispering, and he began swinging one arm around violently, hand clenched in a fist while holding tightly onto your waist with his other hand to keep from falling. You quickly caught on, smiled at his genius idea of mimicking a whomping willow as you did the exact same thing.

"I got hit by a hippogriff!" James exclaimed loudly. You shook your head and laughed as Lily gave him a, "Wow you really are horrible at charades! It's obviously a-"

"I GOT HIT BY A GNOME!" Sirius shouted eagerly, but looked rather disappointed as Remus shook his head. "Come one guys!" He whined. "My arm's getting tired!"

"I GOT HIT BY A WHOMPING WILLOW!" Lily exclaimed proudly, letting her competitive side show. James groaned annoyed as you nodded and let go of Remus.

"Nice partnering with you, N/n." He joked as he sat down on the floor again. You couldn't help but kind of miss the closeness between the two of you as you laughed awkwardly at his joke and sat down next to Lily.

"I believe it's Sirius or James next?"
