CHAPTER IV: The Long Awaited Day!

Nian stood up from her seat and went out of the room with Qing following nervously behind her. Whoever it was that called her seemed to be a prominent figure as Qing was quivering like a frightened little mouse.

Opening the door, Nian came face to face with a tall woman dressed in the robes belonging to the Merchant's first wife's staff. Her name was Lady Su. The woman before her held her head high and looked at Nian as though she was lower than the dirt beneath her shoe.

Nian stepped outside calmly and spoke coldly. "If I go whenever you tell me to, wouldn't I beg like a dog obeying its master? I thought you were a servant?"

Nian had a strong disdain for Lady Su. The past owner of the body was subjected to countless sufferings due to the cruelty of the first wife, Madam Shanghai, and Lady Su.

Lady Su scoffed. "Stop trying to act like you have any authority. You're a good for nothing. Stop joking around."

"This lady never tells jokes." Nian frowned and crossed her arms. "Now apologize."

Lady Su narrowed her eyes. Who on earth was this little idiot trying to order around? A cold light flashed in her eyes and she sneered. "Since you refuse to cooperate nicely then this servant will no longer be polite."

Despite her words she spoke as though she was actually a master of a sort and not a servant. She took a few steps towards Nian, intending to roughly grab her arm and drag her along.

Nian frowned.

Even a mere servant had the authority to put hands on her? Unacceptable.

Just as Lady Su was about to grab her, Nian moved quickly. Qing and Lady Su were in shock.

"What – Ahhh!" A scream came from Lady Su's mouth and Qing's eyes widened in surprise when she spotted Nian standing beside Lady Su, casually holding her arm at an odd angle which would surely break it if either of them moved.

Lady Su felt shivers run down her spine as she looked at Nian. The girl wore a taunting cold smile with a daring look in her face and for the first time Lady Su seemed to feel a sense of fear.

"H-how do you... this isn't possible!" Lady Su was astonished.

"Really now?" Nian taunted.

Lady Su shivered and closed her eyes. Illusion. That had to be it! There was no way the sickly little girl on the verge of death could suddenly vanish in thin air and put her into this situation. The girl was a good for nothing, abandoned by her father and bullied by everyone. She didn't know an ounce of martial arts. There's no way she could defeat me.

Lady Su grew a sinister look on her face and Qing grew uneasy.

"Miss please let Lady Su go." She begged her mistress in fear. If Lady Su was to lash out, how could her mistress withstand the force of it? Her miss had no internal talent.

"Listen to your little brat of a maid." Lady Su sneered coldly.

Nian ignored her and twisted her arm back even more. Lady Su hissed out in pain. Suddenly Lady Su reached out her other hand towards Nian's neck. Nian frowned and disappeared again, reappearing behind Lady Su and kicking her harshly in the butt.

BAM!

Lady Su flew ten meters away and crash heavily into a stone wall, passing out from the force and slumping on the ground. Qing squealed in fright. What on earth was going on? When did her sickly Miss become so strong?

"M-M-Miss?" Qing was so surprised that she could not speak in complete sentences. She still could not believe her eyes.

"That should teach her." Nian dusted off her sleeves and looked at Qing. "Quickly, go change and look presentable. We will be late if we don't hurry."

Qing seemed frozen to the spot, staring at Nian in a dumbfounded expression and Nian shook her head. Geez, Qing. She snapped her fingers to bring the younger girl back to earth, repeating her words and watching the little girl rush back into the room.

While Nian was waiting on Qing to make herself presentable, someone else entered the courtyard.

Shanghai Huang stepped in with her face expressing extreme joy. She was in a beautiful red, flowing dress and looked to be around fourteen years old. She had a small round face and big doe like eyes which gave her a youthful, delicate and loveable expression but inside she was a wicked and sinister person who went out of her way to make life hard for Nian.

She was Shanghai Caravan's Sixth Miss, Shanghai Huang. She was born from the Merchant's first wife and so she had a very high status among the merchant's daughters. She had a very high internal talent and gained a good score when she took the test at three years old.

Despite being younger than her five other sisters, she was the darling of the Shanghai family. Huang's talent was at the third level and the entire family fawned over her, praising her skills and success as though she was an immortal among mortals.

Currently, Nian didn't have the strength to face her head on but it didn't mean she couldn't plot and scheme on her own. No one knew that a new soul inhabited Nian's body.

At that moment, everything was beautiful about Huang from her neatly braided and styled hair to the delicate slippers on her feet but there was one mistake about her appearance; there were too much gold and silver jewelry on her body. It seemed as if she was wearing all the beautiful jewelry from the jewelry box; it was flamboyant, vulgar and tacky.

But today was the day she had been anticipating for a very long time.

Today they were going to the palace to meet with the Emperor and the Crown Prince.

If there one thing she would kill for, it was the position of Crown Princess. She'd been hoping for it since the first day the Crown Prince showed up at the manor and she was introduced to him. There was only one thorn in her side. Nian. The day the Crown Prince showed up was to visit Nian.

The thought of her good for nothing sister being able to hold the attention of the Crown Prince's attention made her green with envy and was the root of her cruelty towards Nian. She figured that if she eliminated Nian then there would be no competition and so she was secretly hoping that the Crown Prince would notice her today.

When she entered the courtyard she was smiling but it faded upon seeing the sight before her. Nian was standing idly in the courtyard while Lady Su was on the ground. She glared at Nian.

"Lady Su came to get you but she was taking too long. What in the ninth heaven did you do?" Huang was angry. Lady Su was her mother's favored maid.

Nian innocently held up her hands in surrender with a look of mock confusion. "I didn't touch her." But I did kick her!

Huang didn't hear Nian's silent words and placed her hands on her hips.

"How did she end up like this?" she frowned.

Nian frowned with a 'how am I suppose to know' expression. "Who knows? It wasn't me. I don't have the strength to even hit a fly."

Huang opened her mouth to argue but then stopped short. Clearly Nian was telling the truth. Nian didn't have a single ounce of internal talent. How could she hurt Lady Su who was at a level two? She shook her head.

"Forget it. Hurry let's go." Qing had reappeared by Nian's side and paid Huang the proper greeting. Huang ignored the little girl and grabbed hold of Nian, pulling her along as they left.

Today was important and nothing was allowed to ruin it. The two sisters and Qing left in a hurry.
