CHAPTER XXV: Robbers At The Great Merchant's Treasure Pavilion (2)
Seeing the halo of crackling purple lightening approaching, Cheng quickly moved out of the way.
CRASH!
The lightning struck one of the walls before exploding, the sound of angry thunder filling the air. Initially, Cheng had thought that another amateur had broken into the manor and wanted to fill his hands on treasure. However he dismissed the thought when he was forced to take a step back from the force of the lightning hitting the wall.
Was it an expert who broke into the manor?
Cheng clenched his fist in his sleeves and turned to Liuyun who was still floating in the air as calmly as can be. A trace of murderous intent flashed across his eyes. "The Great Merchant's Treasure Pavilion is sacred ground. Unauthorized people should turn around and leave immediately."
Liuyun laughed, a sound which was as cold as ice and as haunted as the pits of hell. His manner was completely different from how he acted in front of Nian. His composed air of nobility was replaced with a blood thirsty aura of a tyrant. "What if I insist on entering?"
"Then I won't hesitate to kill you!" Cheng's voice was heartlessly grim and unfeeling. His voice revealed his self-assured confidence.
Over the years, the Great Merchant's Treasure Pavilion was always safe. It was well protected by this level nine elder. Most people in the entire Khaimore Continent could only reach the ninth level and there were very few who passed the ninth level and went on to pursue immortality from level ten to thirteen.
Since very few people were experts beyond the ninth level, Cheng was confident in himself.
He was a level nine martial artist, one step away from entering the martial road of immortality. There wasn't anyone who could match his skills.
The corner of Liuyun's blood red lips curled up into a sinister smile under the black cloth which covered his face except for his eyes. "Kill without hesitation? I'm sure if I was standing before you, you wouldn't be able to hit the tail of my robe. Such a feeble old man. Then let's see who will kill whom."
"Such arrogance! Since you want to die so much, then this old man will grant your wish!" Cheng's mouth curled into an icy sneer, his eyes now brimmed with murderous intent.
A pair of eyes with a sinister gaze stared at Liuyun as if he was looking at a dead man. He had guarded the Great Merchant's Treasure Pavilion for so many years and he had come across many thieves, but he had ever guarded against such an arrogant thief before.
Cheng had barely finished speaking when a pair of scorching hot Dual Inferno Palms were sent to attack Liuyun. The wind send by the palm strike carried a scorching blaze which was enough to roast a person.
Cheng was a fire attribute mage and during his times of travel, he spent his time developing his Dual Inferno Palms, creating and practicing several methods until he developed nine different deadly strikes which spared no mercy to the person on the offensive.
He was obviously infuriated by Liuyun since he used this is move first instead of one of his other palm strikes. The move was heartless and unfeeling with a strong intent to kill. He wanted Liuyun dead in one strike.
Liuyun did not panic. His eyes coldly hardened and a thick wave of unyielding power immersed from his body. Since this old man wanted to go out all, he was going to match his level.
The palm shaped balls of fire were blazing angrily as they neared Liuyun with a threatening heat. Since he was dealing with fire, Liuyun decided to use his water element.
Initially he was planning to use his lightening element but decided against it. Not many people possessed this element and if he were to have a decisive battle with such an elder, he might be discovered.
Liuyun held out both of his hands and placed his palms together. As soon as he separated them, a huge round ball of water was pulled from the center of his palm. At first it looked like a ball but quickly it began to move and formed itself in the shape of a dragon before rushing head first at the scorching palm strikes.
BAM!
The two attacks collided and the Dual Inferno Palm was immediately extinguished.
Astonishment flashed across Cheng's eyes. He never thought that this thief would have such high martial skills. A water mage with a low spiritual talent level would have been able to extinguish the heat of the palm strike but would not be able to dodge the palm shaped fire.
Unexpectedly, this mage was able to break through his most famous move.
"Not bad. But since you're wholeheartedly begging to die, have a taste of Hell Fire!" Both of Cheng's hands successfully agglomerated individual fireballs. One after another, the fireballs continuously attacked Liuyun.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Liuyun's water dragon attacked the fireballs before being surrounded by five fireballs, the scorching balls of fire mercilessly attacking the water dragon and extinguishing it in a cloud of steam.
Liuyun smirked. Not bad. The old man had some tricks.
A chuckled left Liuyun's lips as he fiercely glared at Cheng. "As long as the mountains stand and rivers flow, we will meet again!"
He turned to leave but Cheng snorted coldly and shook his fist in the air.
"You want to come and go as you please? What kind of place do you think this is?" Cheng snapped his fingers countless number of small fireballs shot towards formed out of thin air and rushed towards Liuyun.
But it seemed as if Liuyun had eyes on the back of his head. With his back turned, he strangely dodged the attack, not a single wisp of fire touching his clothes. This time, he really angered Cheng!
Just who was this brazen arrogant thief!
He coldly snorted a few more times, and immediately moved his body to give chase! There was no way this thief was going to leave without a proper fight. If he just let the thief go, wouldn't he lose face?
Liuyun seemed to have expected it and he quickly took off, rushing past the tree which he had landed on when he arrived, a mischievous smirk on his face.
