There was only one more week until Ash's album was out. She offered for me to listen before it came out but I declined. I wanted to listen with everyone else, with all the fans. She kept her promise and supplied Brad, my mom, Conor and I with merch. It was nice to see my whole family supporting my girlfriend. Getting free clothes with my girlfriends name on it was just one of the many perks of dating a singer. Even though I had my own I still managed to steal Ash's merch. It made me feel safe and close to her especially when she was gone like she was now.
She had been gone for a while finalizing things for the album and I missed her dearly. I don't think her leaving is something I'll ever get used to. Although she was only a flight away it felt like something I can't reach. I knew it was her job and that she was living her dream but sometimes I gave into the selfish thoughts and just wished she was here. Ash was supposed to be coming home later tonight and I was counting down the minutes.
I slipped on Ash's cropped Badlands hoodie that still smelled like her; cigarettes and roses. I plugged my phone into the speaker and played some of Ash's singles from the album since I missed her voice. I was dancing to Ghost, the first song that she showed me, when two hands snaked around my waist. I panicked but when I spun around and my eyes met hers all of it faded away.
I jumped up into her arms practically tackling her to the floor. She let out a giggle and grabbed my thighs holding me to her. A feeling of euphoria rushed through me as soon as our lips touched it was like electricity coursing through my entire body.
"Baby! I thought you weren't coming until later," I said as we broke apart.
"I was but I wanted to surprise you," she said.
"Well I'm glad you did," I said.
"Yeah me too. Now I can see that you're my number one fan. Would you like me to sign something for you," she joked.
"Shut up! I was just... I don't know missing you," I said.
"I'm here now," she said kissing my cheek.
"I know and I'm so excited! How long are you here for," I asked.
"Only until next week then I have to finalize some things for tour," she said.
"God I don't even wanna think about how much I'm going to miss you when you go on tour," I groaned.
"Then come with me," she shrugged.
"What? Are you serious," I laughed.
"Yes! Let's travel together. It'll be so fun and romantic. Even though I'll be working there will be breaks and we'll get to see so many countries together. What do you think sunflower? I don't think I can be away from you for that long," she said.
I thought about it for a minute. I was stressing about Ash leaving for so long and I didn't imagine she would ask me to come with her. We practically live together already so I don't think your would be that different. I thought about walking around foreign countries hand in hand with Ash and there was just no way I could say no.
"Yes," I said.
"Really," she asked.
"Yes I'll go with you," I said.
"This is so great! It doesn't start until next month so we have plenty of time! Do you wanna share a room or separate. It's up to you of course I want you to be comfortable. Maybe Brad can come along with us. I know he's been struggling with Kira so he probably needs a break. This could be so fun! We need to go shopping and...," she rambled on.
I sat back and watched her wave her hands around getting excited for everything to come. I couldn't help but smile at her animated expression as she made plans for tour. This was her dream and it was a privilege to be apart of it.
"Sunflower? Are you listening," Ash asked.
"No not really," I smirked.
"Ugh why? This is important," she groaned.
"You just look so cute when you get all excited like this," I said.
"Then I forgive you," she laughed.
"What do you wanna do while you're here," I asked changing the subject.
"Hug my girlfriend, listen to my album with my girlfriend, make out with my girlfriend, cuddle with my girlfriend...," she continued.
"Okay, okay I get it," I laughed.
"I'm totally serious," she said trying not to smile.
"Oh I'll bet you are," I giggled.
"What do you wanna do though," she asked.
"I wanna go swimming. Summers ending soon and I wanna feel the sun," I said flopping back in the couch.
"Let's go then," she said.
"I don't have a pool though," I said.
"I have one at my place here," she said.
"How did I not know that," I said.
"Go get your swimsuit on and let's go," she said.
I skipped off to my room already longing for the cool water on my skin. I put on my mustard yellow 2 piece with some shorts over the bottoms and sandals on my feet. I pushed my sunglasses up on my head to hold my hair out and rushed back to the living room. Ash was already standing in the doorway waiting for me.
I jumped forward and wrapped my arms around her neck intertwining my fingers behind her head. She put her hands on my bare waist smiling at me. I looked up at her with the same giddy expression and she pulled me closer so my chest was touching hers.
"You look beautiful sunflower. Yellow is your color," she said.
I didn't respond, instead I pressed my lips to hers as her thumb grazed my jaw. Her hands moved up my waist and mine found their was to her hair. Our lips moved in synch just as they always did, like they had finally found there perfect match.
"What was that for," she said with a bright grin.
"You're here, you called me beautiful and most importantly you're taking me swimming," I said.
"Sometimes I think I'm dating a 4 year old," she joked.
"And I'm dating a teenage boy," I said.
"Ouch Touché," she said opening the door.
The ride to Ash's house wasn't too long and as soon as she parked the car I jumped out and ran to the front door. She was right behind me shaking her head at my childishness. She unlocked the door and Jagger came running up jumping on my legs.
"Aww you got him back," I asked.
"Yeah I had someone dog sitting for me," she said.
"You know I can always watch him for you. It'd be nice to have the company," I said.
"I might take you up on that," she said.
"It would be cheaper. Now go change into your swimsuit," I said.
"Okay I'm going. I'll be right back," she said.
I sat scratching jagger's ears and in no time ash came skipping down the stairs in a white textured bikini. I realized it was the first time I had ever seen Ash in a bikini and I almost gasped. I could clearly see just about all of her tattoos peaking through.
"I have the hottest girlfriend of all time," I said.
"No I do," she said.
"Whatever let's go swimming," I said pulling her into the backyard.
Her backyard was huge. It was all fenced off so that you couldn't even see the neighbors house and she had flowers growing along the fences. There was a float resting on the surface of the rather large pool and Ash had chairs laying out beside the water.
I peeled my shorts off and kicked my sandals to the side then turned around and gave Ash a mischievous smile. She plopped down in one of the chairs but I ran across the yard and jumped in the pool letting the cool water take me under. I sat under the water for a bit so that I could enjoy the calmness and the quiet. Once I felt like I couldn't hold my breath any longer I broke through the surface gasping for air. I looked over and Ash was basking in the sun not even paying attention to me.
I pushed myself onto the concrete surrounding the pool and tried my best to be as silent as possible. I snuck through the yard but apparently I wasn't sneaky enough cause Ash cracked an eye open observing my dripping body.
"Don't you dare," she warned.
"I don't know what you're talking about," I said stepping closer.
"Thena you're soaked! Don't come near me," she said.
I smirked and flopped down on her lightly so that our stomachs were touching. She gasped and tried to shake me off but I wrapped my arms around her not letting her leave.
"Athena! Get off of me! You're soaking wet," she said struggling.
"Then come swim with me," I said.
"I thought you said you wanted to feel the sun," she questioned.
"I did but now I want to feel the water," I whined.
"God I can't ever say no to you," she groaned getting up.
"It's cause I'm adorable," I beamed.
"Oh yeah? We'll see about that," she said picking me up and throwing me over her shoulder.
She started walking towards the pool and I squealed for her to put me down. She ignored it and continued walking towards the pool with Jagger behind us obviously confused. She swung me off her shoulder and into her arms, bridal style and I couldn't help but laugh at her face. She swung me forward like she was going to drop me in the water but she pulled me back close to her chest.
"Who's adorable now," she joked.
"Still me," I peeped out.
"What was that," she said.
"Still me," I said.
"Okay 1...2," and I was in the water.
I burst through the surface and I gave her a scowl but she was still grinning and jumped in with me. When she came up she immediately grabbed my hips and pulled me into her. My scowl turned into a smile and I wrapped my legs around her waist and my arms around her neck.
"I can't believe you just did that," I said.
"Did what," she asked playing dumb.
"Oh you know what," I said.
"Ohhh I do know. This," she said pressing her lips to mine.
The familiar feeling of electricity courses through me but it was intensified by the feeling of her bare torso touching mine. Her tongue slipped into my mouth and immediately took dominance. I moaned a bit and I could feel her smile as she pulled away.
"No I like that. I don't like you throwing me in the pool," I said.
We spent the rest of the day floating in and out of the pool. Ash spent most of that time tanning while I stayed in the water. Every now and then she would come into the water or I would go up and lay with her and we would talk, laugh and kiss. All I could think about was doing this with her around the world.
