This chapter is dedicated to @midnightcupofnoodles for all the whacky comments and for always having hilarious responses to my comments on her story! xD <3

Watching someone you were related to die was a dark experience.

It changes you.

You can feel it change the chemicals in your brain as the moment unfolds.

You want to look away, but malevolent forces hold your head in place, making you watch.

The only thing that pulled me out of my hellish daze, was when the dead men who weren't eating Sophia heard me scream and let out a shriek as they barreled towards me.

Feeling my eyes widen, I dropped back down into the interior of the car. "Climb into the trunk, Alice! Now!" I shrieked, scrambling over the middle seat as she climbed over the back seat and into the small space of the trunk. It was the only window in the car that we could efficiently break out of. "El! Mateo!" I roared, hoping they could hear my cries over the sounds of the world ending outside.

By the time I fell into the backseat, three out of five of the Jokers from outside climbed in through the window and fell into the middle seats of the car. Despite their broken limbs, slashed skin and milky eyes, they moved with limitless ease. Rigidly, they untangled themselves, struggling to get up, as I heard Alice tearfully scream from the trunk. "It's the monsters!"

We didn't have time to break the trunk window.

Breathing heavily from, I quickly turned away from the Jokers and pointed to the mat covering our spare tire compartment. "Alice, Alice open the hatch!" The first Joker that managed to get up had begun climbing into the back, the only thing that stopped him was the strong blow I gave his chest with my foot. The kick made him stumble backward, effectively knocking his friends over as well. "Alice hurry!"

Nodding, Alice sucked in her quivering bottom lip as she quickly peeled back the mat covering the spare tire compartment. It took her a second to figure out how to open the door, but once she had, she crawled away from it. "It's open! I opened it!" She yelled, covering her ears as the Jokers began howling, eagerly struggling to get up.

"Good girl, now close your eyes!" I ordered, reaching into the compartment, before pulling out the lug wrench. By the time I had slipped it out, the Joker had started climbing back over the middle seats, but this time he was met with a blow to the head instead of a kick. "Get back!" I roared at him, using my body to block him from climbing into the back seat, as I struck him repeatedly.

Blood splattered on the windows, across my face, and stained the fabric of the seats. Knowing I was the only thing between them and Alice though was enough motivation to quickly put the first Joker down. The other two weren't willing to go down as easy. Instead, they both charged me at once and the only thing that kept their teeth from sinking into my flesh was the lug wrench. I grunted, gritting my teeth as the two of them forced me down towards the cushion of the back seat. If I slipped or eased up in the slightest, they were going to be on top of me.

Then, as I began to wonder if I was destined to die here, I heard El faintly call out to me. "Rocco! Roc, are you in the car?"

"Yes!" I cried, every muscle in my body aching as I struggled to hold back the starving men. "El, help me! Help me please! They're going to get Alice!" I begged, my eyes welling with tears as I listened to her sobs from behind me. She didn't stand a chance against one of them if they made it back there, she would assuredly die.

"I'm coming!" El yelled from outside the car, a moment before she dropped down inside, holding one of the blood-stained baseball bats. She was unrecognizable beneath the layer of dirt and blood caking her face. "Come here asshole!" She growled, pulling the closest Joker back by his shirt so he'd pay attention to her.
