Astoria sat on the white chair admiring the quidditch pitch. A white archway stood in front of the golden hoops, which were completely covered in pink and white snapdragons. The aisle was covered with white rose petals that didn't even flutter in the light breeze. Astoria suspected that Lily had something to do with that. There were even flowers floating on the wind above the crowd. Everything was covered in flowers. It was elegant and everything a wedding should be.  Lily had impeccable taste. It was part of the reason they got on so well, but Astoria could not stop herself from despising the entire scene. It wasn't right, but she'd done all she could do. It still didn't stop her leg from jittering nervously. She glanced behind her, looking over all the seas of redheads and back in the direction of the tent she just left.

"Will you sit still. You're starting to draw attention." Draco leaned over whispering in her ear, resting a hand on her leg to stop it from bouncing.

"I just can't stop thinking about him, Draco. I really think we should have gone over there to check on him and make sure he was okay."

Draco grimaced. "He's not okay, but trust me he won't want to see anyone right now. He needs to be alone."

Astoria sighed and rubbed the black box seated in her lap, praying to Merlin that it was doing everything it needed to do. She hated that her son was hurting and that she couldn't take that pain away. It was a mother's job to protect her child at all costs. She glanced behind her again, her leg resuming its bouncing.

Draco watched her anxiously out of the corner of his eye. Astoria was in a down-right sour mood when she woke up that morning and things only deteriorated when they took their seats. Her mood lifted only slightly when she returned from talking with Rose. He bugged her all day about what was in the black box and why it was so important to see Rose, but she wouldn't budge. And now she was a ball of nerves again. Tapping her leg, looking everywhere around her, unable to sit still. It was driving him mad.

Right as Draco decided he was going to lecture her again, excited whispers erupted as violins floated and began to play a classic tune on their own.

Astoria stiffened and shifted her body to gaze down the aisle.

Griffon walked down, clad in black dress robes. He had on a gigantic smile and radiated an essence of true happiness. Astoria hated to admit it but he really was a handsome man. Not as handsome as her son, but still handsome.

Alice waddled down next. One arm resting on her bulging stomach and the other tucked into the arm of a squat man with a smushed nose and bushy brows.

Lily followed practically glowing in her lilac dress with a sheepish-looking man on her arm. She glided down the aisle, flashing everyone an excited smile.

Astoria choked down a laugh as Albus and James came down next. Albus looked downright miserable having to walk next to his older brother, but James basked in the glory. He held his head up high, making a big show, of hooking his arm with Al's and dragging him down the aisle toward the archway. Giggles ensued their march, only silencing when the violins changed their tune to a traditional wedding song.

Wizards and witches stood up, turning back to look down the aisle awaiting the bride.

Astoria clutched the box to her chest.

Seconds passed and still, no bride appeared down the aisle. Hope slithered into Astoria's heart, wrapping itself around her organ and embedding a slow smile on her face.

Thirty seconds passed. Then a minute. Then two. Still no sign of Rose.

Someone called for the music to stop and the excited whispers turned into nosy gossip. Griffon leaned over to Albus to probably ask where Rose was. He shrugged in response.
