I pace back and forth across the lounge, my nerves on edge. Today is the day that I'll finally be rid of this place, my freedom restored and my life back to the way it was.

Well, probably not exactly the way it was.

My brothers are vampires. Something I still haven't fully processed, I won't be able to until I see them.

God I've missed them. So much it hurts to think about them.

I can't wait to see them again even if it means I'll lose somebody else I love.

I haven't seen Aldéric since we had that argument and I didn't know whether I should feel grateful or not. Knowing he believes I'm leaving because of him has my heart aching, my only light now gone. I hope he finds everything he's been looking for once I'm gone, he deserves so much happiness.

Happiness I can't give him.

Sunset is on the approach, Lara should be here by now. I seriously hope she's decided to escape with me. I don't want to leave her behind, to be treated like this the rest of her life. She deserves more than this and I hope she realises that.

I make sure to keep track of time, digging my nails into the flesh of my palms as my anxiety hits the roof. I jerk slightly when the door opens, my gaze locking onto Lara's frightened green orbs. She's beyond terrified, her body trembling slightly as she draws further into the room.

"I've decided to give the chance of an escape a try rather than stay here for definite." She starts before asking, "How are we doing this?"

I offer a soft smile and wrap my arms around her tightly, she struggles to breath in my grasp, "I'm so happy you chose to come." I release her and she smiles back though her earlier question is still written on her face, "We have to leave now. We're meeting Luther In the estate garden." I explain and she nods her head in understanding.

We leave the lounge, Lara standing behind me so that I can make sure our surroundings are clear before we turn corners together. If a vampire see's two slaves walking halls before everyone else is fully awake, it will seem more suspicious.

I gesture her forward when it appears that the halls are completely empty, quietly moving forward, closer to our freedom until I have to stop. Lara stumbles into my back, confused as to why we've stopped walking. There's a vampire guard standing near the door that leads to the garden, a gun in his hand.

I turn to face Lara, her eyes glancing behind me to see the guard for herself, her eyes widening in fear at the realisation. "Don't worry." I assure her, "Just wait here, I'll handle it." I whisper but she doesn't seem convinced.

"Are you crazy? He's loaded, how do you plan on doing that?" She whisper-shouts, not understanding how I'm going to remove the barrier preventing us from reaching our freedom.

"Just trust me, okay? I promise I'll get us out of here." She's silent for a moment, her green eyes searching my expression for a moment before she slowly nods her head, expelling some air from her lungs to relieve some of her anxiety.
