"I told you to stay in the bedroom, Rosalyn!" Felix yells at me, infuriated that I didn't listen to him.

"Aldéric won't hurt me," I explain before my eyes land on Aldéric standing in the doorframe once again. I never thought I would see him again nor how much my body would beg to be near him. His hair is disheveled, his eyes appearing tired and his stubble has grown since the last time I saw him. He doesn't look like he's taken care of himself and I'm sure it has to do with the fight we had before I left.

I try to keep my voice even as I reiterate, "How did you find us?"

Aldéric's eyes fall on my neck, his bite mark beginning to tingle as it remains hidden beneath my dark hair, "The mark." I pull my hair from my neck at his words, my fingers grazing along the sensitive area as he continues to explain, "It links you to me."

Links me to him?

I had wondered why it hadn't healed after all this time and it also takes me back to what Peyton had said before she bit me.

'She's been marked...'

Is this what she meant?

I've never seen Paul move so fast, my eyes widening when Aldéric goes flying back before hitting the gravel outside after Paul's fist made contact with his face.

"How fucking dare you mark our sister?" Paul is beyond livid, Felix and Ivan sharing his anger as they both follow Paul outside.

I run out the door after them, my heart racing as Aldéric is quick to get back onto his feet, not at all surprised to see Paul stalking towards him with lethal intent, Ivan and Felix close by in case Paul needs backup.

Aldéric glances at me as I attempt to get round Ivan and Felix but they prevent me from moving towards Paul and Aldéric as Aldéric questions, "Your sister?" He looks to me for an explanation but Paul is already throwing his second strike.

Aldéric manages to sprint to the side at unnatural speed, causing Paul's momentum to pull him forward before he's able to stagger to a stop. Paul flips round, his eyes turning a dark shade with veins trailing out as Aldéric's mimic the same action. My heart skips a beat when Paul is suddenly behind Aldéric, grasping his shoulder painfully. Aldéric groans, reaching over his shoulder to grasp Paul's wrist before flipping him over his body.

The air is knocked out of him, Paul looking up at Aldéric with anger and now frustration. Aldéric clicks his tongue and chuckles, "I wasn't named the Raman weapon for nothing."

Paul snaps to his feet, his fist making solid impact with Alderic's chest but I'm surprised when Aldéric barely moves an inch, his lips curling back, "I wasn't ready for your first strike but this time you'll be lucky to make so much as a little dent."

It wasn't clear before but now I understand Aldéric overpowers Paul by strength and skill. Aldéric descends from a much more powerful vampire bloodline, giving him quite an advantage against Paul.

Paul isn't giving up, snapping, "Even the smallest dent in the right place can do a lot of damage."

He's not wrong.
