Hiccup's POV
I decided to walk back to my dad's room, trying to find out who that girl was. Ugh. I need refreshments. What am I thinking?
She was just a girl, duh. Every hospital has girls. Even Debby is a girl. What makes me so interested on this one?
I seriously need to stop. Besides, it's Saturday. The day to relax yourself and get out of those bunch of bullies who'd chase you everytime the class dismissed. Believe me. Even I got bullied in my last term of high school this year.
I'm not that type of guy who loves bullying people like my cousin, Snotlout. Even his name describes his personality. It's quite unusual to have your own cousin bullying you but it really happened to me.
I passed rooms as I walk. Then, I saw Debby went out. She directly headed back to her office without recognizing me standing just nearly behind her.
I glanced at the room number and read.
"153."
It's the room of that girl who sits on the bench earlier. Well, her room is quite near to my dad's. What should I do? Should I come in and talk? No, wait. Do I have to knock? What is wrong with me?
I grab the handle of the door but it seems like I didn't have the courage to open. I stepped back and went to my dad's room.
I started to think and mumble to myself like,
"What is wrong with me?"
"She's just a girl, you idiot!"
"What makes me so curious about her?"
"Oh come on Debby, tell me who she is.."
"What am I doing?"
"Am I crushing on her?"
"She's a stranger!"
"What's her name?"
"She must be pretty.."
"Gah!!!"
"She's gotta be my age.."
"Mommm helppp.."
There are loads of questions coming up inside my mind. Half of it was curious while the other half was telling me to stop being curious about strangers.
I entered the room seeing Debby cleaning up the cardboards of my dad's room.
"Haven't got the courage to talk, have you?" She laughed.
"How in the world did you get here so fast? I thought you were in your office.."
"I was.. That was minutes ago.. Nurses are always trained to be quick and steady, remember? I've told you about that a long time ago.."
"Oh yeah.." I sighed as I run my hand back to my hair.
She smiled as I went to sit down on the corner of my dad's bed. "Have you seen my mom?" I asked as I glance at her.
"She said she went to the cafe to buy some food.."
"O..kay.."
An awkward silence appeared right after I replied. Heh. Weird.
"Uh.. Debby?"
"Hmm?"
"How long have you known her?" I asked.
"Who?"
"The girl I stared earlier.."
"Oh, her? Months.. She's a loner.." She answered.
"What do you mean by that?"
"No one's ever visit her.. Her life is broken and all.. Although she looks strong on the outside, she's actually weak on the inside.. She needs a friend. That's why maybe you could talk to her.." She smiled.
"Can you at least tell me her name?"
She smirked. "Curious, aren't you?"
"Heh.. Possible.." I chuckled.
"It's Astrid.."
"Lovely name, I guess.. In compared to mine.."
"Go talk to her, Hiccup.. I think she needs you.. Besides, you'll have another friend to accompany you here at the hospital.." She suggested.
"Alright.. I'll try.. But what if she doesn't wanna talk to me?"
"She would.. Trust me, kid.. She's your age.. That'll make you two get along well.."
"Yeah right.. Thanks Debby.."
"Anytime, kiddo.."
