She was becoming more vigilant as days went by.
So far, hindi pa rin nadadagdagan ang lead na ibinigay sa kanya ng chief inspector. They still haven't had enough evidence to prove that Stefano was behind all of this at ayaw na muna niya magsampa ng kaso hanggang sa hindi malakas ang mga ebidensya na nalikom nila laban dito. Meghan sighed and tried to divert her thoughts. It was foundation day of her university where she was an alumni. The president of the university invited her to be one of the invited guests speakers. Some prominent alumnis were also invited.
"Meg."
Kaiden called her attention. Katabi niya ito sa front seat at kasalukuyang nagdadrive.
"You've been sighing a lot of times now, are you alright?" Anito. She sighed again.
"I'm fine... it's just that... every day is like my last day, or worst... feeling ko, my ex-husband is plotting my death araw-araw," She answered truthfully. She hasn't even relayed yet to her parents about the information she acquired from the investigation. Ayaw niya munang makadagdag sa problema ng Dad niya - especially now when her Dad is busy with the on-going operations of the AFP and some military personnels with the recent rebellion that happened in Mindanao - which killed more than fifty soldiers. Her father is the president kaya alam niyang buong Pilipinas ang dinadala nitong problema.
"He can't go near you, I gave you my word, you have to trust me, Meghan," Kaiden simply answered. She looked at him and touched his cheek. She forced a smile.
"Lieutenant, I trust you but I don't want you to die... or get into trouble because of me."
Ito naman ang napabuntong-hininga.
"It's part of my job, Ma'am. I've already survived lots of deaths and wars... I'm not afraid of anything. If it's my time, so be it."
After half an hour of driving, dumating na rin siya sa university. Some of the students and faculty who were inside greeted her. Some even calling her Mayor. Iyong iba naman nakipagpicture sa kanya and she warmly obliged. Lt. Velasco was just behind her - and to be honest, pati rin ito ay agaw-pansin sa mga estudyante. Maybe because he's not a typical Filipino bodyguard although she could even hear some students talking that Kade looked familiar and these students were all females.
Nilingon naman niya ito. She raised an eyebrow. Huminto naman siya sa paglalakad para masabayan ito.
"Why do some of them... talk about knowing you?" She asked him in a low voice.
He took a deep breath, "I have... a bad reputation when I studied my masters and doctorate here in the Philippines."
"Bad... what do you mean 'bad'?"
"Meghan."
"No, I am curious," She replied, still raising an eyebrow.
"Ma'am."
"No," Tumigil naman siya at hinarap ito, "Answer me, Lieutenant."
"They're watching us."
"Eyes on me, 'bayaan mo sila," She told him and crossed her arms.
"Am I on a trial?"
"Yes. So?"
Bumuntong-hininga naman ito, "I already told you..."
"Told me what?"
"That I fucked a lot of women before, Meghan..."
Napatango naman siya, "Do you still... fuck other women? Or want to fuck other women?"
