"Anak, this is getting out of hand..."

Meghan just bit her lip while looking down on the floor after her father spoke. Kasama rin nito ang Mom niya na sobrang nag-alala rin dahil sa nangyari sa kanya kahapon sa public school. After the incident yesterday, it instantly sparked news nationwide. Her parents even travelled all the way from the Malacañang para puntahan siya.

"I know, I'm so sorry..." Her voice almost trembled nasa labas sila ng room kung nasaan naka-confine ang bodyguard niya. Kaiden had the surgery immediately last night to get the bullet out from his body. Right now, nagpapahinga na ito sa loob.

"This is not your fault, anak... M-Maybe, it's also because of me, because I'm the preside--"

"No, Dad," Hindi naman niya ito pinatapos. She then looked at her parents, her eyes brimming with tears, "This is all my fault. Remember my ex-husband?"

Tumango naman ang dalawa. Her parents knew she married Stefano Marseille. She was young and naive when that happened. She was so in love with Stefano that despite her parents reluctancy at the guy, tinuloy pa rin niya ang pagpapakasal dito. They even lived together and stayed away from them.

And look now what happened.

Stefano turned out nothing but a monster.

"Dad, Mom..." She cried, "He was abusive. Dad, binubugbog po niya ako dati. When he's mad, he would beat me up, punch me, humiliate me... He was a monster, Dad..."

"Oh, our baby," Kaagad naman siyang nilapitan ng Mommy niya at niyakap ng mahigpit. Her Mom cried as well. Even her father went to her and hugged her too.

"Ma, I thought I was going to die when he was punching me, I just want to die when I was with him..." She added. If she only knew he was going to treat her like a piece of garbage she wouldn't have married him.

"Anak, why? Bakit hindi mo sinabi sa 'min?" Her mother, Andra, cupped her face. She shook her head.

"Because I was ashamed. Nahihiya po ako. I was hard-headed na kahit may kutob na kayo sa kanya, tinuloy ko pa rin 'yung pagpapakasal ko sa kanya," She answered. Her father, Maxim, looked mad and in pain.

"How did you escape, anak? I can't imagine the pain you've been through..." Andra told her as she wiped her tears through her thumb.

"I caught him meeting some people who are associated with drugs... He was a drug syndicate. I used it to file a case against him. I filed an annulment after. But after one year, nakalabas siya sa kulungan. He filed for an appeal and it was granted. My case against him was dismissed since our evidence wasn't sufficient enough. I tried my best to put him behind the bars but it was no use..."

"So that's why he's after you now?" Maxim reacted and Meghan knew he was already mad.

She nodded, "He wants to kill me, Dad."

"That's son of a bitch," Maxim cursed and it was her first time to see her father getting so angry and fed up. Usually, her father is one of the calmest persons she ever known, but now, it was different, "Mali ang kinakalaban niya. Meghan, I'll make sure that bastard can't go near you. I will double your security. I will also have the intelligence force to find the whereabouts of that animal."
