"Ma'am, the appeal that they filed was granted by the court. They acquitted him from the charges due to lack of evidence," Napahilot naman ng kanyang noo si Meghan habang kausap ang abogado na naka-assign sa kaso niya. She was currently inside her office at the city hall talking to Atty. Roa - regarding the case she filed against Stefano.

"How? I thought everything was alright, Attorney," She replied, getting more frustrated. When she filed the case against her ex-husband, she did everything so he wouldn't be coming out of jail anymore. But then now...

"Ma'am, I am sorry, I don't even know. I am sure na sufficient iyong mga ebidensya natin laban sa kanya... I don't even know why he was granted an appeal in the first place."

"Attorney, what if we'll file another case?" She bit her lip, "He... When we were still married, he physically and emotionally abused me. That can be filed, right?"

Narinig naman niyang napabuntong-hininga ang abogado niya sa kabilang ninya, "Yes, Ma'am... but Ma'am, we need evidence. It's been more than a year since you got separated with him. Ma'am, have you taken pictures of yourself while your whole body was maybe bruised or worse, wounded?"

Napatigil naman siya dahil sa sinabi nito. She let out another frustrated sigh again. She didn't take any pictures of her when Stefano was severely beating her up. Her mind during that time was one day he's going to kill her and she won't survive...

"No..." She answered in a small voice. She was already desperate for help.

"Ma'am, I'll try my best to see what I can do. Again, I am so sorry."

"Okay, Attorney. Please do. I'll call again soon," She said and ended the call.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. It has been a week since Stefan visited her at the office. Sa ngayon, wala siyang nababalitan tungkol sa ginagawa nito. But as days go by, mas lalo lang siyang natatakot sa maaaring gawin nito ulit sa kanya. Stefan was always unpredictable and vindictive... especially when she was the one who put him to jail before.

She is sure that Stefano is already planning for revenge.

Everything is stressing her again.

She's supposed to be concentrating on her work as a mayor. Pero heto siya, getting stressed out because of her ex-husband. Ni hindi na siya nakakapagconcentrate.

She took another deep breath and composed herself. Binuksan naman niya ang folder na ibinigay sa kanya ni Trina kanina. It was her schedule for that day.  She was really thankful that Trina never fails to arrange her schedule for her. She was also grateful that everyone was working hard when she was away from the office for two weeks.

Nabasa naman niya sa sched niya na kailangan niyang bumisita sa city hospital sa araw na iyon. Trina reminded in the notes that it was the opening day for the new NICU beds being sponsored by the local government. Ang Metro City Hospital kasi ay isa sa mga malalaking tertiary government hospitals ng Pilipinas. Two months ago pa nilang na-bid at na-purchase iyong mga beds.

Tumayo naman kaagad siya. Kinuha niya ang blazer na nakasabit sa swivel chair niya at isinuot iyon. Underneath her black blazer, she was wearing a sleeveless light blue blouse and a black slacks. She was also wearing a black stiletto heels to match her outfit. Lumabas na rin siya sa opisina niya.
