Training was more intense than it had ever been since I joined Spurs, and especially on this day because it was the day of the Champions League Final.
I thought the lead up to the game against Everton was tough but this was definitely twice as hard, but I didn't let it slow me down.
We started off with the normal warms ups and stretches and then moved onto personalised training drills that were chosen so that we can get better in areas we were lacking, for me it was strength.
"(Y/n), your drill will have you trying to seal out Tanguy and Moussa from the ball." Poch said
"Both of them?! How exactly am I supposed to do that then?" I asked
"You could use your body to stop them getting to ball."
"For how long?"
"Fifteen minutes, and every time they get the ball you start again."
"You can't be serious, that's going to take hours!"
"Well you better get started now then." Poch said
"This is gonna be a long day." I sighed

And so we started to train but every time I got the ball, Moussa and Tanguy would both get it back easily in no time, they both were way stronger than me.
In the first hour, the longest I had gone without getting the ball taken away was around five minutes, and I needed to triple that.
"Come on (Y/n), think about how you can stop us by putting your body in the way, we may be stronger than you but you're better at problem solving." Moussa said
"I'm trying, but I just can't think of anything right now."
"You just need time, also don't just look at how you can keep the ball, look for your opponents' blindspots and capitalise on them." Tanguy advised
"Yeah, ok."
So we restarted the drill and I tried again, we were six minutes in when I saw Tanguy reach his foot in to get the ball, I quickly dragged it back with my right foot and held onto it with left foot. However this was just setting me up so that Moussa could get the ball.
"Again." I said
"Remember, blind spots."
"Yeah I know, I'm trying."

It took about two hours, two hours of constantly getting tackled over and over again. But I realised something, Poch said I 'could' use my body, he didn't say I had to. So all I had to do was take the ball as far away from Moussa and Tanguy as possible and keep it like that.
And so we started again, this time I dribbled away from Moussa and Tanguy and they tried to catch up to me but every time they got near me, I was already getting the ball further from them. I continued for fourteen more minutes and ultimately succeeded in the challenge set to me.
"Yes! I've done it!" I cheered
"Well done, you figured it out." Moussa said
"No thanks to you two."
"What do you mean, we told you about blind spots, and where better is a blind spot than fifty meters from your opponents." Tanguy said
"Yeah I guess you're right."

"And remember, all of you need to bring your kit tomorrow for extra training. Ok, that's training over, your dismissed."
"Bye coach!" Everyone then left
"(Y/n), wait, stay behind please." Coach said
"What is it coach?" I asked
"I'm gonna have to cut you from the team, in training it shows you're not ready to play football, every time I give you a chance to try and earn your spot in the team, you're giving it your all but it's not good enough. I know your brother is a pro player but I don't think you are cut from the same cloth as him. If I were you I'd try and find something else to do, because football isn't your thing."

That night I remembered coming back home and just broke down, football was my life, i couldn't believe it. I worked my hardest at every training session and the best I got was the bench, most of the kids made fun of me anyway so being cut from the team was probably a good thing.
I sat on my bed with my face buried in my hands and cried until I heard a noise
*knock* *knock*
Two low pitched but soft knocks echoed through the room
"Who is it?" I asked, my voice was raspy from where I was crying
"Can I come in?" It was Joshua
"Yeah."
Joshua came into my room, closing the door behind him, he then sat on the bed next to me and said
"What's up, you wanna talk about it?"
"No." I said quietly
"Why not?"
"Because you wouldn't understand."
Joshua sighed before asking
"You got cut from the team, didn't you?"
"How did you know?" I asked
"I was the exact same way when I was released from the Fulham academy."
